Is there another way to fill a manual transmission?

Fill plug on the side. I have either pumped the oil in or... I cut the tip off the bottle nipple, force on a clear vinyl tube (~3/8"), wrap the junction with a dozen wraps of electrical tape (oil will break down the tape) and then squeeze the heck out of the bottle. You will be able to squeeze out most of the oil out of a bottle. I pour the remainder into the next bottle.
You want to fill from the plug so you get the proper oil level.
FYI. THE BEST OIL FOR A MANUAL TRANS IS REDLINE MT-90!

It is a GL-4. GL-5 oils have a higher sulfur content and can damage the brass parts. I used to run a GL-5 but started having hard shifting problems. I switched to MT-90 and the shifting greatly improved after a few hundred miles.

I usually pull the fill plug, remove the shifter and fill it until it comes out of the fill plug.

Yeah, there is no way without a pump. (Gerdo's tape trick does not excite me, except for an emergency.) I just use a basic cheapo plastic $4 siphon pump from the hardware store. The nozzle fits tightly in the fill hole and the bottle and pump stand right behind the tire. Just squeeze until it's empty and put on a fresh bottle. I also use Redline MT-90, about the only good GL-4 you can find these days.

NAPA sells a seal that is perfect for the fill and drain plugs Part No. ATM PB2403, but you may have to order a pack of 10 for the same price as two OEM from the stealer.

I also bought a length of 3/8(?) copper pipe and bent it into a hook shape. Put one end into the pump's output tube and the hook end into the fill port of the transmission.

Wal-Mart sells a pump that fits the gear oil bottles. It's made for putting gear oil in lower units of boat motors. It's cheap and I found mine back in the boating supplies in the Sporting Goods.
Works great for differentials, transmissions and transfer cases.

WHAT????!!! I just filled mine with Amsoil Manual Transmission & Transaxle Gear Lube 75W-90, GL-4. Is this not good for our transmissions?
Earlier in the thread this Redline oil was recommended which specifically says it is safe for the brass syncros. I'm sure it is but does that mean the Amsoil isn't?
I'm not too keen to waste $100 and change out the fluid again just after changing it but if it's going to eat my syncros I don't want it in there! I have read on this forum that Amsoil is good for these trannies so I am a little surprised by the above comment. Maybe this comment is old and the current Amsoil GL-4 is good?

I'm pretty sure the Amsoil offering at that time was not GL-4. I would have no reason to say the fluid linked to is no good. I have been very happy with the Redline in two manual vehicles and I'm sticking with it. Both shift like butter (that's good).

I can offer an opinion here. I ran the Redline MT-90 for 2 intervals in mine. It was good. Not the miracle I was expecting, but good. I found that after a certain period, the shifting became harder again.
Last interval I switched to the Amsoil GL-4. Initially it was better than the redline and ongoing I am still finding it better. I am going to stick to the Amsoil.
I wouldn't stress about your choice to use the Amsoil. I should say that I have a 3RZ which means I have a different 5spd tranny than you V6 guys.
