Install the TRD Supercharger. That's what most of us have, and it works wonders. My 4Runner can run the 1/4 mile in under 10 secs
I didn't think it would work on the '10+ motor??

Speed costs money son. How fast do you want to go?
If you have some deep pockets take it to a pro and have a custom turbo put on it. It will cost a bundle but you will have more than enough power gain to satisfy yourself.
My girlfriend has a 2015 Ford Edge Sport with the twin turbo 2.7L EcoBoost @ 315 HP/350 ft lbs torque.
Trust me. That little crossover flat shits and gets with it. I have driven many V-8's that seem lame compared to it.
Why am I talking about the Edge? Because if Ford can squeeze 315 HP out of a tiny 2.7L motor even a mild amount of boost on the 4.0 Toyota will put it well over 300 HP with no internal mods.
But... You are going to have to drop some dime and time to do it. ;-)

I don't disagree that Toyota couldn't squeeze out more power with a turbo, or turbos, but reliability is key. They have a solid motor in our trucks as it is now. I would take reliability over speed any day. Ecoboost is cool, but it seems like most of their stuff has bugs and issues, more electronics to worry about, and more mechanical shite to break down.

They don't drop valves. I've owned and raced several. They are just about the best petrol v8 you can find. The simplicity of them (plus the best in class engine management) is what makes them so genius.
The 4.0 has plenty of potential, but we will never see it due to the fact it is a Toyota with 0 aftermarket tuning support.
I agree with what has been stated before. You can gain some usable power with gears and a Y. pipe and that is about it. If you need more han that... don't get a 4R

Quick question I know most exhaust if not all of them for the 4Runner platform is mainly for Boise but is there a way to have the noise and not change the torque curve as far as losing bottom end vs gaining top?
