Is this 4th gen really worth $26k?

I have been looking into getting into a 4th gen ever since my girlfriend got hers. I am looking for a clean white or dark grey 4th gen sportedition, V8, in 4wd with under 100k miles. I came across this one and was wondering what you guys think of the price. I think it’s absolutely high priced. I would be dealing in cash and I wouldn’t pay more than $21k for this, out the door mind you. I don’t know how rare these really are but I could get into a 5th gen for that price. What would you guys pay for this?

4runners are so dependable as long as there maintained paying that much is foolish..

The hardest thing is you have to be patient when shopping for one..

That price would make more sense in another 10 years or so IMO. As of right now 4th gen prices are still in the regular used car realm.

Rust is ok, not bad. we have a lot of salt like you. I swear by Fluid Film. Spray it on any rusty spot underneath and it protects.

So my neighbor is going to sell me her 4runner.
2005 V8 4x white, dealer maintained, garaged its entire life, driven by an older woman with 84K miles for $9K. I just have to make sure the diff lock works now that I think of it. I think I scored.

It is still for sale and I offered them $20k our the door because I know they are crazy to think they will get that much and they said no. It has been for sale for over 2 months now.

While I understand the post, and love all the info, what would happen if you overpaid and the truck was totaled? Not specifically YOU, but to any of us. My insurance company has pretty much said if the worst happens, I won't get very much of what I've invested back. Does that worry any of you? My 4runner has 57k on it, and only adds about 4k a year. In ideal conditions, it should be worth a lot, but likely I'd get hosed. Sorry, not trying to hijack the thread. Ignore at will.

It's definitely a valid concern. With some loans you can get "gap insurance" which would cover that difference, but I have to imagine that would cost more.

Wow, i paid $6800 for my 05 V8 Limited here in Ontario, i would never think of paying 26k for a 4th gen. even at that mileage

No, it is not worth it. The 2UZ platform is so solid, that low mileage is not worth paying extra for - records and maintenance are though - I'd rather pay $10k for one with 150k miles and all recommended maintenance with records than $20k for one with half the miles or less, and no records.
There probably aren't many records because it hasn't really hit any recommended service levels yet....parts like hoses, belts,and seals go bad with age....I'd pass all day long on this one.

I dealt with those guys a bit when I was looking for a 4Runner, I made a more than reasonable cash offer close to what they were asking on a V8 4x4 4th gen and they wouldn't budge on their inflated price. They have nice clean trucks and don't mind hanging on to them long term until they get their asking price. I got a better deal somewhere else, just gotta be patient like others mentioned.

I checked this place out a couple of times before I ended up buying one next door. I didn't like the vibe they gave me at Miramar, a clean lot but def. 2-4k higher than anyone else in the market.
