Is this a good deal?

I went to my local Toyota dealership today. I want a magnetic grey trail premium. The KDSS isn't a deal breaker.

They found me a Magnetic grey premium no KDSS. It has the all weather floor liners/cargo tray and roof rack cross bars.

I was told $38,141.26. I am in Colorado. Anyone else from Colorado let me know if thats a good deal or not.

It's decent, I think I got my Trail Premium w/ KDSS down to $39,300 before TTL. I went to Groove Toyota. If you take into consideration KDSS is an additional $1000-$1750.

I literally shopped around all the dealers in the area to get them down. It was kind of difficult because 4runners are a hot commodity in Colorado...

I didn't have the all weather mats (weathertech is the way to go anyway) and I did not have the rear sliding cargo tray.

Also if you haven't test driven a 4runner with KDSS I would suggest doing so. If you're planning on lifting with long travel suspension then don't waste your time with KDSS...

You can easily turn that Trail Premium into a TRD Pro with sunroof and mirror turn signals. You won't have to deal with cutting the TRD Pro skid plate or messing around with KDSS when install lifts and stuff.

That's kind of what I was going to go for since the TRD Pro is way to much.

$40,2019 is MSRP. Going off the paperwork that they gave me.

I put a deposit on it. There is no mag grey premium 4runners in my area.

Have you looked up in the Denver area??? If not you should at least check it out man. Literally less than 100 miles away and worth it when your about to drop $40k

Mountain States Toyota, Groove Toyota, Autonation Toyota... These were the 3 I negotiated with to talk them down... Again, you're about to buy a brand new vehicle, don't settle. It took me a solid month before I got exactly what I wanted at a price I was comfortable paying and I couldn't be happier!

Might have to take a trip up to Denver this weekend.

Will you keep your 3rd gen or trade it in?

The 3rd gen isn't going anywhere. Still more work to be done in the 4Runner. Just ordered a new Alpine nav head unit for it the other day. Just looking to get my wife in a 5th gen.

Smart move, I'm still kicking myself for letting go of my 3rd gen, even with a screwy motor.

That's about 5% off MSRP which is a good average discount for a 4R.

You are probably right in Colorado... I was finding in 2012 when I purchased my 4Runner that 9-10% off MSRP was a "good" deal. However in Colorado where there is a higher demand, the discount is likely to be less as they probably don't sit on 4Runners let alone Trail Editions.

It is always worthwhile to check out competition, and if you are 100 miles from Denver I also agree you should scout it out just to be sure. You don't want to pull the trigger and realize you may have gotten a better deal...

I checked out mountain state Toyota and they don't charge dealer fees.

Mountain state Toyota has a KDSS model for $39,253 before TTL but no dealer fees. Does KDSS effect value of the 4Runner?

That's pretty good man, normally the KDSS TEP go for around $41,600 here in the Denver area... At least when I was looking that's what they were going for. I got mine down to about $39,300... I think I paid close to the same but had a $500 dealer handling fee.

I would assume KDSS would effect the value.. on Toyota's website it was an additional $1750 to add it.

I've bought at Mountain States, Groove and Autonation all within the past 5 years.

All were fair to work with, however Mountain States was the hardest of the 4 to negotiate with. Not that I'd stay away from them solely for that reason, because I think their price structure is fair, but I feel like I paid the least at Groove, and Autonation was a close second.

As for overall process, groove was absolutely the smoothest I've dealt with in awhile. Really easy to get through finance and they did a few "we owe" items while I waited. If you shop there, Kevin Gaw is the internet manager, and a great guy to deal with.

Autonation was fairly easy and straightforward and treated me respectfully as well.

I did not like the finance manager at Mountain States. He offered to buy down my APR if I purchased extra warranty items/windshield protection, etc. I told him no, but I'd like the lower rate, which he declined. I'm not in the industry, so I could be missing something but I don't think that me purchasing warranty products magically gives the finance manager the ability to buy down the rate. I almost walked because it felt like a shady deal.

Hope this helps you! I buy cars often so I have a lot of dealership experience, feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions that you'd like my opinion on.

I second the Groove experience.. Went very smooth for me, everything was pretty much done over the internet til I physically walked in to drive it off the lot...
