Is this covered under POWERTRAIN WARRANTY?????

:redbrickoes anyone know if actuator/transfer case is covered under the power train warranty????? My 4wd drive won't work and i am bring it in to toyota this weekend---just want to prepare myself for any possible damage $$$$$$$$$! Anyone know????:redbrick::redbrick::redbrick:

Powertrain warranty is usually "Internally Lubricated Parts" only, which wouldn't cover an actuator. Good luck.

I'm having a problem with my 4lo actuator and just called the dealership and they said it IS covered under the powertrain warranty

Was at dealership this AM picking up a piece for my Sequoia. Asked them and it IS covered according tho them.

The 'diff actuator' on my 06 V8 is not telling the center diff. light to turn off, instead it just blinks, but everything else works with the 4WD. And this is not covered under the powertrain warranty. I have checked with 3 other dealerships and they all said the same thing. $2500 to replace the actuator. Mostly because they have to pull the xfer case to get to the actuator. Best of luck with getting your problem taken care of under warranty.

If you call corporate and yell loud enough everything is covered. It is mechanical rods inside the transfer case so it should be covered despite being an electrically controlled componant. Dont go by what the dealer says. Service advisors dont really know much when it come to warranty.

That's the next thing i'm working on. The problem with mine is that everything works fine except for turning off the light on the dash.

Thx for the clarification bigwebb. Did you go to the dealership yet or you just made a phone call? I have my appt tomorrow (monday) so I want to go in armed with anything I can just in case they try to to turn me down.

I called Toyota customer service 800-331-8331 and was told twice from two different reps that the 4lo actuator is only covered under the basic warranty (3/36k) so since my truck is past both of those measurements it IS not covered. Ofcourse this is assuming that it actually is the 4lo actuator. If this is actually true then fine but if not and they are lying to me and this is my third Toyota vehicle then I will gladly stop being a brand loyal sucker.

So as of right now all they did was tell me it doesn't work and charging me the nys rate of 95$ + tax for that. The service manager called to ask for approval of taking apart something or other which needed 5 hrs labor time and even then they would not know if its covered under warranty so if not and I declined the fix id still have to shell out the 5 hours labor time.

If you actually did have the 4lo replaced & covered how many years & miles did you have the truck for & who did you call ? Thx all

Bigg, can you give me more details about your truck, year & mileage ? Also where are you located ? Maybe ill take my truck to your location to fix it
