Wouldn't you have to cut the core support that is additional on the fat lips? Seems like a lot of trouble to go into to just put on a pre-2000 bumper. Unless maybe they had an aftermarket one and sold it separately.



Not sure, but I think the silver interior trim was added in the 01-02 models. Anyone with a 2000 or previous sport/highlander confirm or deny?

Yep, original PNW cars are almost always in great shape and worth the premium IMO. But you can definitely find a good one in the 6-8k range with locker, no rust, <200k miles etc. out here.

Honestly I think the silver one a frankenrunner it's a 2000 but it has the older style bumper, silver interior trim, painted to match front grill, and hood scooped. I would call it a highlander but the highlanders came black or wood grain interior pieces. Someone else called it a sport

Yep, I get that and totally agree about the one for sale. Was more curious about the silver interior trim option in general. I know it came standard on all 01-02 sports, but didn't know if it was an option before that. Not that it really matters much!

I'm not sure what addition core support you're talking about. The only differences I've found are-
1- The side support brackets that need to be swapped(bolt onto the aprons, and are interchangeable). The brackets must match the bumper used.
2- 2 holes need to be drilled in the brackets of a '99+ bumper when installing on a '96-98. The '99+ frame horns have two holes on each side, but the fat lips only used one of the holes, and then tied into the crash bar for the remaining support.
3- Turn signal connectors are different. These can be re-pinned, spliced, or modified to work. I made the '97 connector plug into the '02 signal lamp socket by modifying some alignment tabs/pins.

2000 sports had a color matched grill, so that's probably factory. Highlander's have the small textured flares too.
Someone just added the '02 Sport dash bezel, and put an earlier bumper on it. Nothin too crazy [emoji631]

I didn't know they made a sport model in 2000. I tried to look it up but couldn't find a 2000 sport so that's why I think it's a frankenrunner

Highlander is the same as the Sport. They just changed the name along the way. Yeah. Mine was cherry. I am pretty anal about my vehicles.

Had just installed DBA rotors and new drums, I did the timing belt and everything around it at 90k miles.

Not a scratch on it. Never wrecked, never smoked in. Traded it in on my 2015 TE. Like every T4R I've owned and sold, regret, regret, regret. :-(

Somebody got one nice 3rd gen with that one, for sure.

I never really understood the hype about the TRD sticker thing. It's like slapping Rubicon on a non-Rubicon jeep. But whatever floats their boat....
