Not worth 8700. If it had 85k it should be, but I would ask for the VIN and run a background check on it. Ask as well to have your mechanic look at it.
Do you know what the maintenance schedule is for its year? Do buy a nightmare.
 
Price seems steep to me. This past December i purchased a almost identical silver 02 with 87k miles for $5800 from a private seller.

I got mine for 4800 last february with 102k on it. 4x4 SR5 no locker in Florida. I think I got a great deal on mine but I would have gone up a 1000 if I had too.

I would say 5700 would be my max for that, maybe 6000 at most. It looks in decent shape for a 3rd gen. That's a lot of money for that though IMO
 
In Colorado that would be a pretty good deal. I'm sure there's room to talk them down some. But dealers here would be asking over $10k for that 4Runner for sure. If I were seriously looking at it I would want to see pictures of the underside to see how much rust it has. And if I were some of these other guys I'd be listing my 4Runner on Denver's craigslist to make a quick $3-5k. Those deals sound nuts for the low mileage.
 
If you guys happen to see anything on the East side of the US please let me know. I'm going to try and get a check on it. I think I am going to wait for one with lower miles to come along.
 
So when I bought mine the dealer was asking 9,500,

Before I bought it I took it to a Toyota dealer and had then give me a quote on things needed done. I was able to get the truck for around 5grand. So if you like it and have looked at others and this is the best so far then I say throw them an offer, worst they can do is laugh.
 
no where near worth it. i say 5k at max. if the timing belt and waterpump have not been done drop the price to 4k
 
Looks good to me for that price. In 2012 I paid 10k for mine with 145k.

I see a rear locker switch but 2000 didn't have the locker???
 
2000 was the last year that the rear diff locker was an option.

OP, if you notice the different opinions you are receiving, take a look at the poster's location. That is a big factor in the different price points. Where you are located, it seems that the asking price is notably high.
 
I like the price on that one even less than the first. These trucks are old now. The mileage isn't the determining factor (for me). The condition is the determining factor, and the condition can only get "so good". Find a good condition '99-'00 with the rear diff locker, little-to-no rust, and 140-200k miles for $5,000.

I challenge you to find one like that for that price.


I think a lot of you haven't been keeping up with the market lately. A 3rd gen 4Runner with under 150k miles is getting pretty rare. A Limited with a locker is VERY rare in good condition.

The original one was a little on the high side, but if you find something comparable for $5k you better jump on it, because you could flip it and put an easy $2k in your pocket.
 
Beware

Check twice for frame rust, check that the AC control panel works, that the coolant did not mix with the ATF and make sure they have the master key. The head on that key in the ignition does not look black enough to me and there is no remote key fob with it. Re-flashing the ECU and cutting keys is not cheap.

One of the things I like about my 97 Limited is that it predates the immobilizer and chipped keys. I can get a copy at Ace hardware.

Haha, certainly there is nothing like that in my area. Again, I don't know the market in the rest of the country :)
