Issue with new RCI Sliders - Kickout hits rear door.

Mine were part of the very first production run and there were lots of them at the same time so I'm really not surprised they're slightly off.

Or shift them ahead or back 1" and drill new holes or weld them on.

You may be right. Ordered mine only days after they were available. He posted them on here as available october 1st, and I ordered oct 7th looks like. (just didn't get the chance to paint/mount until a couple weeks ago)

I may look into doing this after the body lift. It will probably solve my flexing/warping and body-mount contact issues at the same time.

Problem is there are two holes that the threaded screws on the very top portion of the slider mounting plate. If i shift the slider any lower and drill new holes there will not be any mounting plate left...

I plan on welding them eventually and right now the rub isn't enough to bother me. My son gets in and out daily on the side that rubs, there's just no paint or primer left on it.

Yes I believe these were built for a 4runner with a body lift. I do not have a body lift and it is a problem. I am not going to do a body lift just so I can make the sliders work as they should...

Drill the frame, not the mounting plate.

I do not want to drill the frame. These are bolt on sliders. They are not advertized as sliders that need additional holes in the frame to be drilled or welded to the frame.

I get that, but when you make every set by hand, it's not always possible to have 100% accuracy. Sometimes holes may be slightly off, or angles welded on slightly crooked. If these were machine made, I'd expect a perfect fit. Either way hopefully Josh gets back to you eventually. I'd call him though, I had a terrible time getting a hold of him via email.

They should fit no issues. Talk to rci. They should be made with a jig and should fit perfect unless the holes vary on the frames between years. Possibly trucks with xreas have different hole patterns.

What if someone purchased a brand new 5th gen 4runner, puts on a set of sliders on and it is hitting the door and rubbing the paint off of his perfectly brand new vehicle. Is that acceptable? Not in my book.

Keep calling or leave a message, there's only like 3 or 4 of them that work there and they're probably mostly in the shop. Took me a few tries to get through.

but is there any way they could be upside down and on the wrong side? Could you flip um over and install um them on the opposing side of the 4runner?

It's very obvious, especially with the kickout, which way they go on.

Correct, its very obvious. If you have it backwards the kick out would be at the front of the vehicle.

IIRC the body sits lower on the frame on 06-09s vs 03-05s. if the sliders were mocked and jigged with an 03-05 this could be the issue?
My Hanna sliders were very close to rubbing when the door is open.

I think this tends to be a common problem in early production of sliders with the kick outs.I remember BAMF had the same issue when they first came out with their kick out sliders but you had a little more adjustability because they are weld on. They eventually corrected the issue and now they mount up perfectly.

You definitely want some space in between the sliders and the rear door, if it's too close or even rubbing that's just no good! You have keep in mind body flex not to mention if you ever come down of something and slam onto your sliders and they get bent up your doors not opening. I mean that would be in a more hardcore wheeling situation but it can happen. I've put my sliders thru a serious beating with out issue but you should always keep that stuff into consideration being that that's what you'll be using them for. It'll be easier said that done taking a sledge hammer to those things to bend them back down. Not to mention swinging that hammer full force while their still mounted on your truck,that could end badly if you have a miss swing lol:smash:

Here is a picture of the rear door hitting the slider. This is with the slider position all the way down as far as it can go. In the pic I cannot even fully open the door. :frusty:

I'm at a point now that I am going to package these up and request my money back and buy Shrockworks or Budbuilt sliders.
