Issues with Marion Bumper2Bumper.

I am just trying to find out if anyone else has had issues with getting the products you have already paid for from "Marion Bumper2Bumper Automotive, LLC"?

Before I made my purchase of a 200AMP Alternator I saw a few members had ordered from him and had good things to say, I messaged back and forth a few times with Bill Tomerlin and he was fast to reply on this forum.
Everything looked great, sounded great, history it seemed of good customer service, so the Paypal invoice was sent and away we go.
He mentioned 3 weeks to get the item built and powdercoated, then shipping would take how long shipping takes, I fully understand.

So the Alternator was paid in full on 01/11/2016
I still have not received it or even a tracking number or status update. :(

I usually have to send 3 or 4 emails to him over a period of 20+ days before I get a reply, and the last 2 replies are usually saying that he messed up his schedule or orders and it would be sorted later that day.
These apology emails saying that he would sort it later that day came on 02/14/2016 and one on 03/02/2016 after multiple emails requesting some kind of update as I was still just in the dark.

Just wanted to hear from others if they have had similar experiences with him or how they resolved this if they did.

BTW - I live overseas and calling him would be difficult as I would have to stay up late or super early to call, that is why I email. Plus if a business can not reply to emails in 2016 that is a pretty sad day. :(

Update: I wanted to add my On-Going Email Log. Still have not received a product just more promises. :(

All Info to Date:

I ordered a 200AMP direct bolt on Alternator for a Toyota 4 Runner 1997, in Powder Coat Red.
Bill Tomerlin and I had exchanged a few Forum Messages leading up to him sending the paypal request to me on 01/11/2016.
Bill stated in one of these forum emails that it should take 3 weeks to complete the order.

Hotmail Email:

02/15/2016 - I Replied thanking him for looking into it.
02/18/2016 - After 3 days with no reply, I sent another email asking for the requested tracking or status info.
02/22/2016 - After 4 more days with no reply from Bill, I sent another email requesting a reply with the data I asked for to be sent or advise me of what was causing the delay.

03/02/2016 - Bill replied saying he fell way behind on things and my info was on his list of things to cover today.

04/08/2016 - Sent email asking for a response and status update of my order.
04/11/2016 - Bill replied "I'll check into that today and find out what happened."
04/12/2016 - I replied thanking him for the reply and that I looked forward to hearing from him tomorrow on the status.

04/13/2016 - Bill replied "He said he shipped it, but since it hasn’t arrived I am going to get him to ship another and get the tracking info from him."

04/19/2016 - Bill sent a T4R.ORG PM, "Sorry for the delay. He is building a new one and I can get it shipped out. Remind me of the US Shipping address you had listed please."
04/20/2016 - Sent reply on T4R.ORG and also sent a copy to his email for my tracking purposes. Replied with Shipping Address, also asked for an estimated time till it shipped and to once again request a tracking number once it did.
04/20/2016 - Bill replied "Confirmed shipping address. They are shipping the new one out today." And he included a pic of the Alternator in the email.
04/20/2016 - Sent reply "Thank you for the update, please send the tracking number once they ship it. It looks beautiful!"
04/23/2016 - Bill replied with the tracking number and thanked me for my patience during all of this.
The light at the end of the tunnel!!

Received the Alternator! Looking to install this afternoon (04/29/2016) if time permits.

PayPal has buyer protection...id just let them handle it. either you'll get your refund or the seller will update and handle business. good luck.

I think you have 90 days to file something.

Sounds sketchy. I am interested in a few items from him but if he doesn't take care of you then he's lost my business. He could very well be busy and this could all be just a misunderstanding but hopefully this thread will help make things right.

I think he took on more than he could chew with that group buy and is just really backed up with those orders and I also think he has a real job and does this on side. I was in it and paid early to have it made and shipped earlier than others so I can't complain. From what I've seen in the thread he is trying very hard and acknowledging people's complaints and trying to work it out. I know people have pm'ed him and then mentioned him in the thread since he is more on Tacomaworld than here to try and get a response. He makes an amazing product when you eventually get it.

I bought a big 3 upgrade kit from the guy and it took forever for me to get it. Absolutely forever. BUT, I did get it and the quality appears top notch and I'm very pleased. Communication isn't great, very true. Maybe get someone here to call for you.

Funny that you posted this. I've been talking to him. Through emails, and he was responding. Till I asked about the price for stage 4. Because I'm very interested in purchasing a set. And judging by Tacoma forums. He's legit. So idk, he hasn't responded in almost 2 weeks.

If your not receiving anything this late in the game, you waited too long potentially. Paypal is shit for getting money back. I was scammed successfully one time in my life, never again.

Paypal "protects" you by saying, hello user, you need to pay back "customer b". We see your account has no more funds, let's go to the bank account which you may or may not have attached. Then when they contact thief's bank account and the fund's aren't available, they tell you, they tried. We will monitor their account and update you should the money appear for us to reimburse you.

Each section of this, the thief has 30 days to acknowledge and respond. Then ultimately, your out months more of your time, with no money back. Paypal protection against a business however, potentially would be a safer bet. Either that, or you contact your credit card company and they issue a charge back.

I had someone else try similar in a private party sales, and VISA was like cool, here's your money within 48 hours. NEVER pay for something without a major logo on it, IE: DO NOT pay for anything private party through a bank account. At that point, your bank has full discretion of using their limited resources (which they won't) to help you out. If it's got a Visa logo, even the debit card on said bank account, they take over and don't mess around.

Hope you get your parts. You've been more patient then I think a business is entitled to expect from someone who paid in full for a product.

Thanks all for the info and words of advise, I was not aware of any group buy nor was I apart of it.
I was (err. am still) a private Customer and he never mentioned anything about a group buy as the reason for his delay.

Looks like I can fight this through Paypal or before I go that route try and be awake at a time that he is open.

As for the side business/home business thing, that does not bother me as long as you don't BLOW OFF your customers who have already given you the money up front and you made deadline promises that you could not keep.

I live in Japan and have for over 10years now, I understand shipping times and delays and limitations on items and sizes, but to just have a business who was really happy to take your money but then leaves you in the dark after they have been paid.
Well it is a crappy thing to do.

I don't think he's scamming people honestly. I think he's really baked up or possibly life has given some challenge that we don't know of. Hopefully he will reply/update UA ASAP. To avoid any PayPal issues. I'd love to order his set. I don't understand why he wouldn't post the prices ?

I am trying to hold out hope that he bit off more than he could chew and is not real good at customer service. But sending him $350 back on Jan. 11th and being told 3 weeks for a turn around, now skip to Apr. 4th and the severe lack of info as to what is going on just makes me nervous and pissed at the same time.

I really like to support the home business/inventors and have when able, my Endlinks are from MStudt my Body Lift from FatPat and so on.
What I would love to see is PayPal setup similar to Amazon, the invoice sent, checks that the money is there but does not charge the customer until the item ships, that way if a home business person gets overloaded or is terrible with time management the customer would not have to fight to get the money back if they decided they did not want to wait a crazy amount of time.

Guess I will continue to email him until I am able to call, assuming he answers his phone, and get something worked out.

I will update this thread to keep people posted until this is resolved for good or bad. If anyone has any contact with him and wants to update that works as well.

It's not a side business. Go to his website, he's a mechanic, own's a shop & sells other types of upgrades too. Mostly for TACO's IIRC.
Similar to Scotty at A.O., busy shop so shipping & customer service are a little lacking but the products are solid.

Ah gotcha. I thought he worked as a mechanic and did this on the side

The price is kind of based on what set up you want and each part.
It's pretty modular and based on your truck its as close to custom fitting as one could get with out doing it on the truck.
I am pretty sure there are some standard mesurements for each run, but some customer prefer to have batteries in different places based on their set ups and he try's to accommodate it, remember it's still a business and materials cost and labor hours changed based on how different it is from the basic 3 wires.
From my last conversation there is a stage 1, 2, and 4 (dual battery set up, w/ back up start)

I have never had an issue with him. Yeah it takes a while because of group buys and he works through a few forums, including Tacoma World which has a lot of orders. He puts together a quality product and backs it. Just keep reaching out to him.

Yeah dont worry too much hes legit. As mentioned above he got tons of orders on the TW GB and is backed up a bit.

I opt'd for the early invoice, guess it paid off otherwise I would have been in the same situation as everyone else in receiving the big 3 wiring upgrade plus Alt. Hope all goes well for you.
I also agree in letting PayPal deal with it.
