How come a difference in opinion implies hate and warrants foul language? Those are some very strong words to be used in such a casual exchange of opinions. Let's not get childish here....

First, I apologize, but I hate it when people rant of opinions on the internet when if a friend asked you the same question, you would be a lot nicer. Your response practically crushed his dream of his rims. imagine what he felt like when he read that. Do you think he felt good about his vehicle, the rims, or the forum? Let's consider our comments before we make, them, and that goes for me too.

I originally voted no. I DO like the Rims,as they are 'clean as hell', but they are not my bag. But I think Keylay brings up a good point. If they are something you're into, then I think they could look good.

I likeyour headlights(kinda) too. They are the only way to go projector pre 06, huh? Not to thread jack, but are those three little lights on the tops blue, or do you have other 'less ricey' options?

Also, there was a thread about putting large rims on 4runners, and apparently fast acceleration can snap your axle...just something to think about. I'm going with a 2/1 lift... so theres a lot of risks I'm taking too.

As far as I'm concerned they are the only way to go projector pre 06. I took a bunch of pics & the camera always make the lighting alot more bluish than it really is. All the lighting is hyper-whitish...not nearly as blue as the picture would indicate. The 3 leds on top can be changed or even disconnected as well as the eyebrow(parking light). I posted some pics of the headlights somewhere in the gallery.

As far as the rims are concerned...(i'm talking about some comments posted prior to "simple")


I don't want to look like a pimp or a drug dealer or something driving down the street, I've just always happened to like the sporty/luxury mix. That's another reason why I chose the 4runner...looks nice & strong, sporty with a little luxury. Nuthin' cheap about it...and that's a reflection of me.

Thanks alot keylay31, I did feel a little irritated when I read that comment...and it was a little fierce, but we are adults here we can handle it. For a second there I was like....DAMN!!! Truth be told...I wouldn't like to make anyone feel foolish with what they do to their cars...it's all up to the owner. Someone on a previous comment on this thread mentioned something about individuality. It's a thing of beauty. Well, I appreciated the honesty and I still feel good about the vehicle & the rims & KINDA good about the forum. :biggrin2:

Haha gotta love the haters! They'll do anything to get there opinion out there on how they hate big shiny rims on SUV's. To be honest your going to impress a lot more people and turn a lot more heads with a blinged out ride then you would with an off-roading rig. People see the chrome shining and they can't help but look, especially the fine ass females.. haha. And I have gotten so many damn compliments it's not even funny! Even had some girls taken pictures of my 4Runner one day at a red light (no joke).

What I'm trying to say is, 4Runner's were created to be either off-roading vehicles or street vehicles with big shiny rims on them. There are just as many lifted 4Runner's out there as there are blinged out 4Runner's. So quit hating, if it's not your style then get the hell out of this thread. He's not asking you all what you think of Street 4Runner's. He's asking what you think of the rims. If you don't like the rims then suggest another set of 22"s for him to look at.

I think it would be quite unique. I have never seen another 4R in person here in San Diego with powder coated stock rims. So do you mean that if one other person does something it is no longer considered unique?

In my mind if I'm the 2nd person to do something then it's not unique. Now if I'm the 2nd person to do something and I don't know about the 1st person then I don't have a problem... ignorance is bliss I guess.

I have seen a few vehicles out here (East Coast) with powdercoated stock wheels hence why I didn't think of it as being unique. I'll bet you won't find anyone else with those 22's on a 4R though mainly because of the mentality of most of us 4R owners. To each his own I guess.

i think the wheels look good. however, they're not for me. furthermore i think on certain trucks (the T4R being one of them) after market wheels don't look kosher. hell, the new wheels my neighbor just put on his Bentley and Murcielago look out of place too but takes nothing away from the cars.

it all boils down to taste. i say go for it if you really like them.

What is the point of having a board like this if we can't just give an honest opinion about the question that has been asked? I think it would serve the OP better to perhaps save him some money and make him realize it could possibly be a mistake. The final call is obviously in his court. it's his money, and his decision. I'm just not too concerned about his feelings based on my response when that is what he was asking for in the first place.

Living in an area where there is snow (his stated purpose for owning the 4Runner), it just seems like he could go with a different look that would not sacrifice the versatility of a 4runner in such a situation. IMO, you will do a LOT better in snow with a decent AT tire and smaller rims than you would with giant rims and tiny tires. Even beyond the aesthetics, there is practicality here. I've seen a lot of 4Runners with the street look but they have the blacked out rims and badass AT tires. It's not necessarily an offroad look since he has enough other street stuff going on with the 4Runner.

I do not hate you. Can we put this lame phrase to rest? Suddenly someone with a differing opinion is accused of hate? Don't you think you are taking it to an extreme here?

If I happen to dislike pepsi, does that mean that I somehow hate pepsi? There are certain things to hate in this world, but your very loose use of this word seems to show a misguided sense of priorities.

i agree. everyone asking for an opinion should receive honest and open opinions.

"Hating" is a term that has been taken out of context for a while. "Hating" is bred from jealousy and/or envy. Unless he is jealous and or envys him (which I can tell he is not), he is not "Hating." He is simply giving his opinion, albeit a bit harsh about it.

Actually I mentioned in a previous comment that the rims would be used only for the few warm months we have in The Windy City each year. I never intended to use them when snow is on the ground.
