J.A. map light mod. Need help

I just finished doing the map light mod follow J.A. instructions from his page. I tapped into the same ILE wire harness connector 1K Pin #9 (red w/ green stripe). I chose not to add the switch. Everything works as it should when the keys are in the ignition but when there are no keys in the ignition the lights stay on when all the doors are closed. When the keys are in the ignition all lights including map lights come on when doors are open and go off when doors are closed. Not adding a switch shouldn't be causing this problem, right? Any help would be awesome. Kinda in a jam here :tsk:. Thanks in advance
