Japanese import engines?

Hey just browsing around trying to find a good used engine and ran across these....

Just wondering if anyone has ever seen or heard of these?
I called the craigslist add and the lady told me that in japan they have a mileage tax that is really expensive and its cheaper to just buy a new vehicle. So they bring the motors over here to sell with incredible miles on them.. around 50,000 usually..

Any credibility to these? and are they any different?

I have heard this to be true. Some people have said to be careful as there are some bad engines making their way over. Tsunami affected and what not.

Japan has this smog law where car and truck cant run there engine pass 30k or whatever and they have to replace it with a new engine. So for that reason, US get all the new-used motors. I just install out one in my buddy 99 4runner. The only difference is the oil cooler and oil filter is in the wrong spot, just swap it over across. Header flow better on the JDM one by what I heard never try it.

So im putting a new motor in mine as we speak and I decided not to go with the Japanese driven one. I was told they have a lot of hours on them due to stop n go traffic so those miles don't mean too much is what I was told. I bought one with 96k US driven for 1400, bought a timing belt kit with all the essentials
