JBL Stereo - Door rattle due to bass

I decided to take matters in to my own hands by adding Dynamat (actually used a product from Stinger which was a bit cheaper) to the front driver and passenger doors. Ripping the door skins off my brand new Limited was a bit terrifying at first...but it came back together perfectly.

I realize this is one of those without pictures this post is useless sorta things but I don't believe the process needs to be an exact science. And as someone mentioned, there are a few threads floating around. I applied the mat everywhere I could without impeding the ability to put the skin back on. It's been around a year...through 1 brutal Northern MN cold winter...and things are still tight and silent. And now the door feels a lot like my old Volvo when I close it. :nod:

Awesome! I just got back from vacation and saw your post. Yes, I took mine to the dealer twice and they added some lightweight stupid foam two times before I got pissed and took my panel off myself and resurrected my young self again and fixed it by adding dynamat as well! I added it to the outside door panel and inside where the window track was and that has stopped all rattling. I did it to all my doors to make sure I did not have that issue again with the doors. At the same time I updated my speakers as well. Glad everything worked out and I knew from the get go if the dealer was not going to add dynamat, then the issue would never be fixed. Now my sound is excellent and the doors close with authority!

I made a hole on the plastic liner and the rattling is gone. I actually did not use a knife. There is a small piece of the liner can be peeled off. I do have a little concern for the moisture coming into the inner side of the door but it seems okay since the liner was not 100% sealed.

I did use sound deadening material around the speaker and on outer panel but the rattling was still there.

Late reply here, but the rattle is from the lower cup holder section of the door panel. It is plastic welded onto the main panel and rattles with bass. Get some plumbing GOOP and place a bead of it all along where the 2 parts meet.

Additionally, if anyone is experiencing a crackling noise from the doors with bass, it is the plastic vapor barrier vibrating from sound pressure. Get some felt or pillow stuffing material, cut to match the plastic vapor barrier, and attach with some 3M trim spray adhesive.

Another area of the door that can rattle is the snap on screw covers in the door panel. Use some stick on foam (weather stripping foam) on the backside of those snap on covers to stop any rattling.
