Thanks for the response, great post! so amps can swap out without too much rewiring!

one more question,

i purchased the TYTO-01 to work with the aftermarket headunit.

the tyto would still be needed to turn on the amp after i replace the stocker for a aftermarket?

because i would like to start with replacing the headunit and TYTO, and come back to the amp later with some speakers.

1: JBL amp will power the center channel. It sounds awe full. it will be too loud and over bearing.

2: Yes, I did. Change it out for a 5 channel. you will need to rewire it somewhere. you can do it at the OEM amp location. all your wires are there.

nope, the tyto-01 will be useless. its only for the stupid jbl amp.

if you want to put a more powerful amp in and use the existing speakers you can. the jbl sucks. the horrible 8" woofer just doesnt cut it.

i love the way my truck sounds now AND no loss of space!

Resurrecting this old thread because I'm in the middle of doing a Headunit replacement right now and it sounds terrible.

Recently installed a JVC KW-855BW Headunit...functionality is great so far, but quickly realized something sounded...weird. It sounds harsh, tiny, hollow, no impact, no bass....what's going on!? Then bam! - Found this thread.

I'm replacing the HU and sub because it blew. I have a 2006 after all so it was time. I had turned my bass on the factory unit down to -5 (all the way) and had the fader up almost all the way forward. Surround is set to on to and so is that ALS or whatever it is called.

I think this is my problem. I plan to temporarily reinstall the factory HU and adjust settings back to default and then reinstall my JVC to see if things improve.

Anyone disable the center speaker as well? I wanted to utilize all my speakers for this, but if there's no way of getting around the harshness then...disabled it will have to be.

i installed the Pioneer Avic-W8500 Nex with the Maestro RR to keep my steering wheel controls and added the phone controls on the other side of the steering wheel, works great and didn't have to adjust the settings at all when installed the maestro did all the work and it used all the speakers didn't have to disconnect the center speaker, also it has OBDII connection so i see all tpms readings and gauges when driving.

Hey, I too have installed the Maestro RR as well. Works great so far. However, I am not convinced it's resolving the lack of bass and overall harshness and upfront fader sound.

I think I might have to test center channel on or off. I really do prefer to use all speakers.

what headunit do u have mine has a gain control i just turned it up and i have too much bass so i had to play with the EQ to get the sound right.
