JBurt's 97 Build Thread

Just gave it a bath and piecing things back together after paint today.

All 4 wheels are now the same color, cured, and back on the 4Runner.

Scoop mesh painted and reinstalled

And bolts instead of rivets (the tops are painted black so they don't show)

Looks much better

And the spoiler is back on

Forgot to post that they actually painted under the hood without me asking or charging me for it. I was impressed.

And bad news. When I was putting the rear wheels on I saw that one drum was cracked. Anyone ever heard of this happening before?

I like OEM brake parts because brakes are a little important. Brembo's are about the same cost as new Toyota drums, but does it make any difference? And for that matter I know drums don't do much anyways, so are parts store drums okay? I can get them locally and get them today.

Habanero - Your new signature made my day.

Looking sharp J! I read similar that front do most of the braking so I would think local parts are good and they have warranty as well. I would paint them first to prevent rust. That's my plan when time to change mine.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Not too much happening with the 4runner. Hoping to take it out this weekend.

Got a new sunroof visor, new rear brembo drums, new die hard agm battery, and I still need to paint my centercaps.

Tomorrow is black Friday though. Lame update without pictures.

In other news my parents live across the street and my dad has an 85 Bronco he got about a year ago. It hasn't ran since June, fuel delivery problem. Yesterday I finally tore into it and the fuel pump wasn't working. $20 replacement and it runs better than I've ever seen it. Now I've got a permanent wheeling buddy close!

Thanks habanero and road bull!

It's a full size. I got to spend 3 hours with my 4 year old changing its oil this morning. So much better with help.

I'm really thankful for a lot today but by far my family is the best.

I hope everyone has a great day filled with good people and good food

Old messy fuel pump anyone?

So I've had a build thread over on Yotatech for a while but I haven't ever done anything really amazing to my 4runner. It is hands down the best car I've ever owned and I love it.

Love the truck and I love the new color. I've followed this build thread and the one you've had over on Yota Tech over the years and am impressed with the coverage and mods on the truck. Most of all you've used it for exactly what it was meant for. Look forward to continuing my build in the same vein. Keep it up!

Thanks! The crappy pics are from my HTC m8 phone and the better ones are a Canon t1i. I need to use that camera more.

I gotta say I like you're build very much as well. How do you like those new tires?

Hahahah . I was just trolling my own thread to give everyone a little laugh...

Do you have any super high res photos of your rig you could share with me????

I'll PM you my email address if you'd like to share a couple of your favorite pics!

And here I was hoping for some serious mall crawling. Disappointed.

Let me know which pics and I can get you a better than photobucket quality copy.

Merry late Christmas and happy new year everyone. Put a few miles in the 4Runner lately.

Went to see family and snow for Christmas

And 1800 miles later it's back in it's natural habitat

Then went on a quick overnight camping trip to Sheep Canyon in Anza Borrego. Haven't gone camping much since my daughter was born. She sleeps really really well in her crib and no where else. It's nice when we're home but I've really missed camping. She did well enough over the holidays so we decided to try it. Got a new instant pop up tent from wal mart that worked well enough.

Weather was beautiful, there was a little water in the stream, and the food was fantastic!

Beautiful sunset on the way there

Still need to paint those center caps.

My son picked up a new 4x4 for Christmas and it handeled it's first water crossing flawlessly

The moon set around 9 and the stars were amazing. I really just wanted to hang out by the fire and look at the stars, maybe try some night time photos, but it was cold and everyone wanted to go to bed. Especially the 2 year old. She is good and getting what she wants.

Should be headed out on the Socal forum run in two weekends. I'm excited.
