JDinh4R's '06 SR5 Build Thread

What's going on everyone? Decided to make a build thread to document and share my progress on my 4Runner. I recently purchased the vehicle (8/14/14). I am the third owner of the vehicle, the two previous owners took meticulous care of it and didn't drive it much. I picked it up with 45,413 miles! It's got the coveted 4.7 V8 and it's Natural White, the color I wanted. Without further due, onto the pictures! :D

When I first went to see it in person:

First got it home:

After driving it around for awhile, I started detailing it. Spent 8 hours doing it. Wash, clay, polish, Opti Coat 2.0.

Next day after getting it, I got some new shoes for it. 17x9 Level 8 Strike 6 wheels in matte black and 265/65/17 Goodyear Wranglar Duratrac's.

Over the weekend I did some plasti dip to get rid of the chrome (yuck).

Added some stickers (gained 30hp :D), shift knob, and some valve stem caps:

Some random pictures:

Next up is a lift kit, tint, tubular side steps, and exhaust/intake. Hope you guys like it so far! I will keep updating as things progress. Thanks for reading! :bravo:

I just picked up a 06 Natural White V8 also. Im wondering why mine doesn't have the v8 emblem in the front grill. My insurance says it is a sport/sr5. So I don't know what's up.\

Very clean mods so far. I might have to look into plasti-dipping my grill also.

Looks great! Where did you pickup the TRD shift knob? Also, how much did you pay for the 4Runner if you don't mind me asking?

That's interesting, my insurance company says the same thing. I am with State Farm. My CarFax report also showed SR5/Sport as well. Weird. Thanks for the comment!

Thanks! I paid $19,299 for the vehicle. Which I think is a great deal. Bought it from the second owner, so didn't have to pay dealer fees and such. It was nice being able to talk to a previous owner as well. Shift knob was bought via a Toyota parts website. Let me know if you would like a link.

Yup, seems to be a decent price and saving the "dealer fees" certainly helps.

Yup, my SR5 is listed as a Sport Edition when I run the VIN. Must be an options package.

Thanks, good looking shift knob but pretty pricey.

Right on. I'm west of tc by about an hour. I do frequently visit though. Got any plans to lift the 4r and take it offroad?

Cool. Do you visit family/friends up here? Have plans for lifting it, thinking of FJ springs with Bilstein 5100's. Even though I'll have a lift and tires for offroading, my 4Runner won't see any of it. Haha. I will probably get flamed for it, but I don't like seeing the vehicle dirty. It gets washed pretty much everyday, and waxed once a week. Very anal about keeping it clean. I use it for going to work, getting groceries, and cruising around town. :pop2:

Yea I got friends and fam all over the city. Plus there is a whole foods. Lol. That's cool though man. I was super anal about keeping mine clean when I first got it. But coming from offroading Jeeps my whole life, it didn't take long to get it dirty. Well if you get the lift before I leave town I'm more than happy to help swap parts drink beer and hand wrenches.
