Jeep bumper on a T4r

I have been looking for a bumper for some time now and am wondering if anyone has thought about taking another bumper (say from a TJ) and cutting the ends off to fit between the two plastic ends of the stock T4R bumper?

I know this isn't optimal because it doesn't protect the corners for offroad, but I am struggling to justify 2k for a rear bumper.

Maybe start with something like this.

I'm sorry but I can't really tell what that is. Is that a bumper or did you just weld some things to the subframe?

I'm considering making my own swing out in that area, I found a tire carrier (from smitty built I think) that carries two jerry cans and a spare for about $300 that's for a '16 jk. Looks like I should be able to fab up the rest to fit in the middle part of my bumper. The way I figure, it doesn't hurt to try, the best and worst thing about not owning a jeep is that you have to fab things yourself!

I do however know that if you're in the market for sliders, four door jk's are the same length as our 4runners. (Wheel to wheel) if you're good at sticking metal together you can save some serious coin by ebaying jeep sliders! I found a set for $200
