That guy is also very experienced off-road while normally driving very questionable vehicles. Interesting it lifts a tire nearly on command. The first off the assembly line would lift the rear tires on flat pavement. TFL just highlighted lady that does use her Renegade. Not my thing but works for her.

I am mildly surprised it made it up to the pass, considering what I have read of its abilities in respectable magazines.
There is something to say for a small footprint and a short, I assume, wheelbase. The old Foresters used to surprise a lot of people even with just open diffs and no traction control at all. But small and short wheelbase allows them to squeeze between and around things. Lifting wheels and spinning is a non-issue with AWD cars in my Subaru experience, except when climbing or going through stuff of course. But no problem with stability or breakage.
Still, with no power and pseudo low range, did it get pushed up to the pass? It is not that steep but the elevation is serious. I am not surprised the video does not seem to show any of the climb, it must have been a spectacle!

A crossover/unit body SUV can do some of the things a BOF will do but with 100 times more drama.
Just look a the videos of the new Land Rovers lifting their wheels off of the ground when they do the pressers for the automotive journos.

Having come from a Subaru, that about nails it.
The entire area is extremely scenic and quite mild. However, the trails are very exposed and often times very narrow with a tight switchback here and there.
I think BBP is one of those trails that are rated difficult chiefly to discourage folks from getting over their head.
It has been done in a practically stock old Forester and nearly stock old Outback with awful bumpers. But you don't want everyone with a vehicle lacking low range doing that. There is a difference between doable and sensible.

BBP is pretty simple if you have any experience wheelin’.
It’s fun and a nice run for the scenary.
I do it every couple of years and my wife has done it and she barely wheels, but we love this one and she wanted to do it one year.
Of course I guided her, but she had few issues.
Troublesome spots if you don’t know what you’re doing, but nothing too technical at all.
Switchbacks just take time and backing up a lot. Not difficult though.
People get scared and it’s rated difficult because of the narrow switchbacks and elevation/pucker factor.
It’s only open for like 10 weeks due to weather and you can get caught in some nasty if you go out on a bad day for weather.
I’ve done it in a stock 4runner a stock Taco as well as my current moded runner.
It’s fun and a nice run for the scenary.
