Went to Offroad Jamboree at Adventure Offroad Park outside of Chattanooga last weekend with my cousin and his kid. It was a good time. Jeeps, jeeps, more jeeps, buch of crawlers/bouncers, some samurais, a handful of Tacomas, and a grand total of 1 other 4runner there, and it was a 4th gen. I know on some of the group rides the Jeepers were just waiting for me to have some problems or need a recovery, but they were outta luck.

AOP was a pretty cool place. It's a relatively new park (less than 3 years old),and it sounds like they've been expanding pretty rapidly. I'll definitely be back. For anyone interested in going and camping, their campground is really just a wide open field, which was about the only thing I was disappointed in over the weekend. Didn't have a chance to get many pics with the group rides, but we did manage to snag a few.

I think next weekend I'm finally going to start tackling my dual battery setup with a Optima d34m and national luna solenoid/monitor that i've had for almost a year. I'd been putting it off, planning on putting it in the rear and doing a drawer setup at the same time I was installing my stereo stuff, but yesterday I realized I could fit it under the hood. For some reason I was thinking that it wasn't possibly because of the abs module, but that took all of 5 mins to relocate.

I've never been to AOP, but it's good to hear that it's a nice park. If you want better campgrounds try Hawkpride. They've got their designated ones, but they told me when I camped there before that I can camp anywhere so long as I'm not on a trail.

That's actually where we've decided to go next. Heading over there mid to late november. Cousin has a work buddy that's been building up an old Toyota truck so he's going to tag along. I've heard nothing but good things about Hawk pride, and it's just down the road (well, like 45 mins for me). It seems like a stupid thing, but i like actually camping in the woods, not just in the middle of a field. A little privacy is nice too, not just being parked 12 feet away from the next guy.

I recommend them for sure. Nice owners as well, I plan to go back once I'm back in bama. Certainly not a stupid thing, I prefer to be as secluded as possible when camping. At least some trees or something between me and the guy next to me.

Spent the day on the 4runner today. This post is more for me at this point, documenting what I did. No pics yet. I'll snag some at some point, but i didn't take any of how I ran the wires when I had the driver and passenger side interior gutted

Big 3 upgrade, BFAD style. New alt to bat wire, grounded alt to fender, new fender to bat. Only wire I got rid of was the tiny <8awg wire that went from the battery to the fender. I used these terminals and 1/0 Excelene OFC copper wire. It's more than needed, but with a dual battery going in this week and soon an a cs144 going in soon, I wanted to make sure I had plenty to handle the current, and if I'm doing it, might as well overkill, right? Crimped, soldered, techflexed, and heat shrinked all the battery cables.

I'm still trying to decide where my national luna dual battery monitor is going to go. The Solenoid is going on the driverside firewall. New battery is going on the passenger side wheel well/fender on it's side. Battery tray is coming monday. I ran the same 1/0 wire into the cabin through the firewall grommet on the passenger side. I'm cutting out the tub of the glove box and that area now houses the fuse block for my two amps and a blue sea fuse box. I'm planning on wiring my stereo off the 2nd battery with a 3 way switch so I can run it with the car off and only kill the 2nd battery. 2awg welding cable goes from the fuse block to the amps under the driver and passenger seat, Elemental designs nine.2x for my front Elemental Designs e9.65i components, and a Massive Audio Nx5 for the rear fill (eD e9.65i comps) and eD E5.12 sub. Still gotta build a box for it, finish glassing the rear speaker pods, and cleaning up and painting the front speaker pods. I also haven't run the rear speaker wire for speakers or sub. I'm planning on getting the front speakers going this week, and the rest will probably wait until thanksgiving holiday.


I also noticed some grease/sludge on my the back LCA adjustment bolts from the CV axles. I haven't been getting this, so I'm guessing it was from my trip last week to AOP. It really tested the limits of my travel, so I'm thinking that's what did it?

A couple weeks ago I got my 2nd battery and national luna dual battery setup finished up. I still have to actually mount the controller, but everything works great.

I also found a guy locally to weld my Stubbs Sliders on. He's actually the owner of Cartotracks and does some pretty awesome mapping if anyone needs it. Crazy nice guy too.

Dirt Devil looks cool, I might have to try that one of these weekends. I can't see your pics from Little River Canyon or the ones in your post about the dual batteries.

There used to be a pin on google maps in my neighborhood saying that Cartotracks was based up the street from me. It's not there anymore so I don't know if it was an error, or if the owner lives/lived near me. Do they have an actual shop or is it just like a home garage type of setup?

Yeah, Jake works out of his house (well, that and his fleet of jeeps). They actually just launched their app for Android today and maps for King of the Hammers. He's in Madison, probably same place he was listed at before.

Yup, Little River Canyon looks neat. I didn't realize there were trails down there. I've never actually been now that I think about it.

The place I'm thinking of has never had a single jeep parked out front, so I don't think he's real near me. If I ever need something welded I'll have to get his contact info from you though.

What does $230 buy you? On the side of the road in Alabama (in a yard decorated with broken down cars) it can buy you a full E locker axle and matching front diff and a new steering wheel. arty:

I also finally found some correct U Bolts for my M416 so it's not rolling. Hopefully I'll finish up getting the tub down to bare metal and a coat of primer on it. The Hitch on it is shot, so I'll have to go ahead and mount my 2" receiver tube that I was planning on doing ultimately anyway. It's sitting just about PERFECTLY level with the 4runner after doing a 1/2" shackle lift and mounting it as a springover. I'm thinking about picking up one of these bedracks from Hot Metal Fab to mount my RTT to.

Not too much new with the 4runner. A tree limb fell and jacked up my hood and driver fender as well as driver side mirror and broke one of my headlights. I spent some time this weekend moving my retrofit into a different pair.

A couple weeks ago my cousin and I went to the Smoky Mountain Overland Rally outside of Knoxville. It was a pretty awesome weekend, despite the constant rain. I'll definitely be going back next year.

Aside from that, spent a bunch of time over the past few weekends getting my m416 put back together. After years of sitting in my back yard it's finally ready to go wheelin'!

Apparently I haven't really updated anything on here in a bit. Last July I added the 167 Ebay snorkel kit. No real problems installing it other than thinking it was going to look like garbage until i had it finally bolted up. I'm pretty happy with how it lines up, and how small my gap is. It looks even better in person.

A couple weeks before that I put on the Ditch lights from a Rago Fab group buy. They're really nice to have and if I had it to do over again, I'm not sure that I really needed the dual lights. Having one angled a little bit forward it kind of renders my light bar (which is a cheapo anyway) useless. I think whenever I find a good deal on some HID spots I'll throw those up front. I did add some cheap amazon flush mount led pods to the rear bumper as well. Definitely helps with backing up at night, though not as much as I thought they would.

Went wheeling at Hawk Pride off road a couple weeks after installing the snorkel and managed to bury the passenger corner DEEP into some mud. I got about 2 inches of mud and rising in the passenger floor board before I got snatched back out. 9 months later I'm still working on getting all the remnants out of the seat, carpet, dash, and everywhere else.

Heading up to Smoky Mountain Overland Rally in a couple weeks. It'll be the first real road trip with the trailer, and I'm looking forward to it!

Went to Smoky Mountain Overland Rally last weekend. Went back to Hurricane Creek, English Mountain, finally went up to Max Patch, and checked out Dark Holler Off-Road park. The weather was perfect and I even managed to snag some amsteel winch line, kinetic rope, and some soft shackles. First full weekend camping with my RTT/Trailer. There was a 2nd gen, 2 4th gens, probably 6 or 8 5th gens, but I was the lone 3rd gen there. Lots of other Yotas, including a Hilux.

Now the bug bit me on getting this rear locker installed. Hopefully I can tackle that in the next month or two.
