July 4th Week in Colorado

Well I hope you can swing the wedding! But if not we'd love to have you come down!

Yeah worst case scenario, a few passes are closed and we have to use the highway a few times. We are just happy any chance we get to head from AZ up to the San Juans. It is by far one of the most beautiful areas I have been to.

We are advertising this trip on T4R, YotaTech, and TacoWorld and it has been surprising how few people are able to come even for a day or two.

I bet that is a great experience. It is a good place for that celebration.

Attendance might be down a bit because of the FJ Summit a few weeks later. A lot of people hit MOAB before the summit. The summit is a bit of a drain on the bank account too. Especially if you stay in a hotel and have a large thirst.

Shoot, I wish I could make it and hang. Just that I have time off later that month, and have to get my deck done by the 4th, so was going to use that weekend to get it done. I'll do a local run at most. Man, I wish I could go.

You will love it. I am going later in July though. I think I'll take the Jeep but I would have met up either way. Have fun, and take it easy. Post pictures...it is one of the most beautiful parts of the country.

So many great trails around Denver, but I am not sure about Steamboat and Keystone. Check out Traildamage.com and PM me. I have not hit a lot of them but will be this year. There are a lot of trails here- from mild to a bit too much for me. A couple will cause body damage, and I avoid those.

Peru Creek area out of Montezuma, just south of Keystone is a cool spot.


Also, looks like Ophir is open!

Been going to Silverton area since 1971. Can't seem to stay away very long at a time. Wish I could be there July 4, but can't. Don't think I saw Poughkeepsie Gulch, and Imogene pass mentioned. Don't forget them. Imogene is my favorite of them all. Have a great time!

Poughkeepsie is tough. I took my stock Rubicon till the big boulders. With my 35s and a winch, I should make it this time. Imogene is fantastic!! Just go slow and watch for uphill vehicles on that one narrow descent. There is only one decent area to let someone pass. A family rolled their vehicle and died there trying to let someone pass.

I'll be in the area. Staying in Fruita for a few months, so I am just 2 hours away and have been spending every weekend there.

Engineer, Hurricane, California, Black Bear, Imogene, Ophir etc. We are aiming for two or three a day.

We'll hit Durango this Saturday night, then Telluride Sunday Monday for a basecamp, the camp out of Ouray Tuesday Wednesday, then Silverton Thursday, then not sure Friday, then we're going to head back to AZ that Saturday

They are "maintained" CO. highways but there are some technical parts. None of those vehicles should have trouble. I do it all in my 2wd as it is. (IFSing it next year !)

Talk about horrible timing... After installing a locker and putting a whole new suspension on the '88 Blue Beast it threw a rod and put two holes in the old 3.slow! SUCKS!!!!
