Honestly, I think the 6th gen will have a crappy motor/tranny combo like the Taco... But if that's the case, then our 5th gens will have great resale value! Lol.

I'm nervous about it as well. Is this a common enough opinion that Toyota is aware and may remedy or are they selling a ton as usual?

I remember hearing or reading about something regarding Toyota selling a record number of 4Runners in the past year or two. It's the whole overland bandwagon craze on IG right now. I'm waiting til everyone gets over it and moves on to the next thing.

Good question. I would imagine the Tacoma is still doing well, but I don't think that they are dominating the mid sized truck market as they were before this redesign. I would put my money on Chevy/GM taking more market share from the Tacoma due to the Tacoma's bad ratings for its engine/tranny and the documented problems it has. Also, the turbo diesel options on the Chevy/GM trucks and the Z51 (or Z71 whatever from Chevy that competes with the TRD Pro Taco) are making Toyota sweat a little I would imagine.
That's all my opinion, not based on fact.

Groove has posted some pics of a 2019. No new style rack, No running boards, I'll bet no cargo tray too. In fact the vin shows zero options just trdp package and 50 state emissions. It does list a sunroof but no picture of it. The other 2019 from sunnyvale showed running boards, cargo tray as port added options.

Thanks. Let’s hope they make drivetrain improvements before they start shoving them in the 6th gen 4Runner.

Clearly they have posted pics of a 2018 but claiming it's a 2019.
Supposedly there is a recent transmission programming TSB that drastically improves the feel. My experience in my FIL's Tacoma TRD Pro was that the truck was gaining speed but didn't feel like it. Never was I unable to quickly get up to speed... but the vehicle gave me no feedback that I was moving up to speed. It was a strange sensation. I drove a coworker's 6MT Tacoma and had no complaints about the 3.5L. With the 4Runner likely not getting a redesign until MY21, I don't think an unaltered 2GR-FKS will find its way into the next gen 4Runner. That engine SOPd in 2015. It will be pushing 6 years old at that point and was really just a heavy overhaul of an engine that dates back to 2005. I think the full TNGA thinking will be implemented for the platform and engine when the 4Runner gets a redesign.

Today in Idaho on eastbound I 90, there was one Voodoo TRDP on a car carrier, it was mixed in with a bunch of Subarus. Sorry no photo I was driving 80 mph and trucks are limited to 65. It is a bright color but I like it. Good luck to the new owner.
