Just bought 2016 limited, ? On push button start

First time having a push button start.. It doesn't seem to have any issues but I'm curious if it normally makes a "buzz" type sound right before starting? To me it almost sounds like it's going to short out, but it never has a problem connecting, etc! I will have 3000 miles left on basic warranty, would you suggest having it checked out or is that normal?? Thanks

Agree. Why not if under warranty? My Tacoma didn’t buzz before starting. Might not be a big deal but I’d get it checked out if possible.

I do not have any abnormal buzz on mine but I will pay more attention next time I start it to see if there is a small buzz I just got used to.

...Mine makes the sound you're describing... 2014 Limited with 62,500 miles and still working like day 1. I never really noticed or thought about the sound until your post... I think you're OK, but if you still have warranty left, get it checked out if it bugs you. Good luck.

I think your hearing thefuel pump priming. I've never noticed, necessarily, but previous cars I've had have had a little hum from the pump when you put the keys I'm the ignition.

It takes hitting the button twice with your foot off the brake to energize the fuel pump. Does it all at once if foot is on the brake. No noise from my wife's 2015.

Thanks everyone!!! I also noticed last night that it not only does it when starting, but after I turn it off and open my door it will make the same nose, almost like some engages then disagrees..hmmmm

I think my wife’s ‘12 does this. I always assumed it was the steering wheel lock.

I think you are hearing the steering wheel lock engaging, but I may be wrong.

the buzz you describe is probably just the abs pump cycling. i noticed this right away on my 18. non issue i suspect. if you go heavy on the brake pedal when starting you can feel it too !! enjoy your new ride.

Yeah the brake pedal buzz was a new one for me lol between that, the fuel pump, and the steering unlocking I would say the OP is probably fine.
