Just changed my oil @ $1.38 per quart.

Just hit 1000 miles so I was considering Toyota Brand Oil at the Dealer.
It was $3.23 per quart OTD.
IIRC The Toyota Brand oil is Pennzoil.
Wallyworld had Pennzoil 5W30 @ $1.38 per quart OTD.
Over 50% savings. Easy choice.
The manual says 6.5 quarts.
My dipstick reading was about 2mm inch below the full mark.
I just left it at that. Good enough right?

Which engine do you have?

The 4.0 V6 takes 5.5 quarts with a filter change, 5.25 without the filter.

$ 1.38 is unheard of here on the east coast. Add another dollar to that and that be more typical here. Gear oil, trans fluid, motor oil, and gasoline

$1.38 is a great price. Also, leaving the oil just under the full mark is fine. I notice the oil expands when it is hot, also you might be more apt to check it once in awhile is your not over the full mark. I tend to leave the oil just a bit under the full mark.

I have bought oil form Pep Boys that has a rebate, which sometimes brings it down to .99, but once they reused to pay, saying it did not meet the requirements. The oil I buy, Castrol GTX tends to runs around $2.30ish a quart and that if it is on sale.
