Just got this 4runner

I've been around for a little bit seeking info and getting ideas and a few days ago I finally picked up this 2000 4runner with 165,000.

Truck is in good shape mechanically and was well maintained. Before I bought it, it had all major maintenance items taken car of like engine oil, trans oil, diff oil, timing belt, water pump, etc. Used 4x4 maybe 2 times. I want to continue to this list of maintenance before I start any other mods.

Now a couple questions to get me started.

1. when I start the car if its cold I get a bit of a squeal for like 2 seconds then it goes away. possibly power steering? new belt?

2. suspension and bushings are all stock original so it needs replacement. I'm considering trying to replace EVERY bushing on the suspension. upper/lower ball joints, tie rods inner/outer, sway bar bushing/end links, power steering bushings, rack pinon bushings, etc.

3. Do I go 100% OEM parts for the bushings and keep them rubber rather than polyurethane? I've heard that's better to keep everything soft to help with range of motion. Are other brands ok like moog?

4. are there any packages available were all or most of these components are all packaged together rather than buying all pieces individually?

The squeal could be the PS or idler pulley.
Rubber bushings absorb vibrations and noise, while poly bushings transmit them through the vehicle. But rubber bushings wear out while poly ones don't.

Don't buy Moog parts.

For the LBJs get NAPA or Toyota.

"Camelback Toyota Online parts" is a legit Toyota dealership that sells at a discount.

Also be sure to use the search function or advanced/alternative search (see my sig)

Welcome and good luck. Looks like a very nice 4Runner.

Full list of everything thats been recently done:

timing belt, water pump, thermostat, crank seal, cam seal, flushed radiator, lubed driveshaft, yolk joints. Transmission fluid, differential fluid, transfer case fluid.

I'm thinking next:

spark plugs, spark plug wires, PCV valve, fuel filter. What else?
