So I just got a call from the owner of a 96 I was going to pick up on Friday, an someone hit him today! He got rearended and the roof has a roll in it now...so much for that. It was going to be my fiance's, so it looks like we're back to square one. Son of a $@&!#

96 SR5, black 4x4. Original owner had immaculate records up to 171k, then the guy from the dealer she took it to bought it. He's a tech ther and he's had it for 20k and just did the belts, wp, valve gaskets, axle seals, everything. Only thing it needed was tires. Plus I got him down to $3500! Man it sucks! And we sold her Cherokee tonight...

Dang! So close! But that's better than say buying it and having someone rear-end you on your way home.

Are we sure....it was rear ended, or did a better deal wander up?

No way to enforce this, but a contract is a contract; verbal or otherwise and so they can't just say "I changed my mind".

I mean. At a practical level there is nothing you can do, but I hope it really was hit and they are not backing out of a good faith contract.

No, it wan't shady at all. He sent me a couple pics of it. The bumper is pushed down, the gate is caved in, and the back of the roof is wrinkled. The truck that hit him was even worse. It was storming like crazy here last night, and the person was driving too fast/close. It sucks for him to, because he's not going to get any more money from insurance than what I was paying him. A 96 with 191k is worthless to them!

It's just not meant to be.. it might be your luck now, but you wouldn't say this when you run into a better 4runner down the road for a better price. Goodluck.

Ya me too...I found that one on Craigslist...looked today and there's nothing around here. I'm sure I'll find something. Just sucks.
