Just recieved PO maintenance records!!!

After my 97 limited(3800)$ purchase recently the PO siad he would mail maint records(yea right)well he DID and I about fell over,over 12k I added up over vehicle history ALL done at DEALERSHIP with OEM parts.dont get me wrong,it still needs some stuff but at 222k -4timing belts,three sets brakes,2water pumps,full fluid chg in EVERYTHING every 30k,all 3k oil chngs,new rear diff,valve cover gaskets,full toyo exhuast with new toyo cat conv(stolen in his garage)etc etc,He literally did ALL maint toyo recommended,so awesome. I see no reason why I shoulndt keep this machine forever! It rides like a new truck.I didnt see two items that I am going after,lower ball joints (going oem here,not cutting corners with kids riding along)and radiator.For crap sake it has ORIGINAL starter! sorry about long rant but had to tell somebody,my buddies are sick of hearing about it already!

Nice! It's always good knowing the previous owner was on top of the dealer recommended service. I regret selling my 2000 limited knowing all the money in maintenance I dumped in it, but I'm still in contact with the new owner and she knows never to trade it in.

The '97 my sister bought was like that: $19k in dealership service records. It has 260k miles on it now and runs and drives great. Keeper for sure!

that's awesome man. I too was able to go to the original stealership where mine was purchased and with a little haggling, they printed the entire service history. Same story - All Toyota serviced OEM goods. Great piece of mind. Plus it's funny pouring through 15 yrs of records and seeing some of the ticky-tack stuff the original owner took it to the dealership for.

True that,saw 14 bucks for valve cover gaskets and 1300 labor! 1.95 for a pair of latex gloves and 12.95 for washer fluid,ouch.rear diff gears 900.00,the reciepts to prove I didnt have to pay for it-PRICELESS!

Hi all, great piece of mind knowing the PO took good care of your vehicle. For previous dealership performed maintenance, you can do a quick register on Toyota's web site. Have the VIN number and a password is all. Shows all maintenance, parts, mileage, everything. Here's a link:

This is a very good tool to view records for vehicle that you are looking at to purchase, knowing what has been maintained BEFORE you purchase it!

If that Windy City dealer was charging $1300 for a valve cover gasket replacement job, I have to ask how much a timing belt/water pump change was? $2000?

Im at work right now but will get you all some numbers from stealership on some of the PO repairs,Im not slamming the dealerships at all just gives me MORE satisfaction doing repairs at home and saving all that dough(plus learning all the tight spots in my "girl"(yes I have a questionable relationship with my 4runner)!!:kiss:

My aunt's neighbors (retired couple) always serviced their Corolla at the dealer. I think it was a 93 or 94. One day she saw that the Corolla had been replaced with a Fusion. Turns out the son found out that in the Corolla's lifetime his parents had spent over 18 grand in maintenance and repairs on a car that two years ago booked at about $2000. Granted they had the car for seventeen years but it was facing more repairs in the not too distant future.

I don't really understand why people think that $1,000 a year for vehicle maintenance is that bad, It's less than $100 a month - and for dealer service? I think they did alright.
All I have to say about the ford for them is good luck on that being any cheaper.
