First, regarding comments that this forum is supposed to be about our T4R's... If we don't pay attention to the left wing environmental whack jobs and their socialist intentions, we won't be able to HAVE our T4R's. They would like nothing better than to regulate them out of existence.
Second, fuel vapor build-up on a boat is indeed a serious issue, as gasoline vapors are heavier than air, and therefore build up in the lower portions of a boat's hull.
They just flow out the bottom of the engine bay on a truck or a car.

Just did some more looking around for more information on this thing, and the background.
....TRD setup retains the California Air Resources Board's required hydrocarbon filter...still captures polluting vapors that may escape when the vehicle is parked

I cannot believe that anyone would spend more than 30 seconds thinking about removing that stupid thing. :twak:
People are spending hundreds of dollars in Cold Air Intakes and Catbacks to increase the airflow to and from the motor, but removing this stupid sack-of-instant-coffee-looking POS raises eyebrows?!?! Cmon!
Maybe we should all run stock tires too and not lift our trucks either.

Ahhh, Koln. I was there last summer. The dome is amazing.
Anyway, to chime in on topic, I would personally not be worried about problems due to the filter removal. It IS there for environmental reasons. However be advised that improving your intake system doesn't result in increased mileage, only increased power. Better flow means that more air goes in at the same throttle setting. Crappy flow means the car runs the same but the throttle has to be opened wider for equivalent performance.
