Justin's '97 Build Thread

Picked these up for 50 bucks off a 2005 tacoma trd access cab. the guy said they had less than 5000 miles on them. I am not 100% sure they will work with LC 8 wrap coils in the back but we will see.

Hey so after seeing your picture I totally misread and though you said Tundra. The Tacoma coils wont work and especially the 05-12 Tacoma coils. Ah I'm and idiot for skipping through the posts. PM inbound.

It's all good. Thanks for the help. I just wanna make sure I get exactly what I want/need to make my 4runner a sweet ride.

Since I have not yet found the struts I need for my front lift and because my brakes suck, because of a bad master cylinder, I have decided to do the Tundra brake upgrade.

I started last night but only did the drive side because it was getting dark and when I put my wheel back on it didnt clear the new caliper. Today I am going to get some wheel spacers just so that I can finish the brakes I plan on getting new wheels in the future but I am going to Mexico in a couple weeks so I am just going to wait until I get back to finish the lift and get new wheels.

if you dont mind me askin, how much did all that cost you for the tundra brake upgrade?

It was 550 with a new master cylinder and 515 without.

Edit: I forgot that there is a 125 +tax core return once I get the old parts off.

I went with ome 881s and tundra 5100s on the second perch. It is a sweet ride. Do you guys recommend the sway bar in the rear or not or on while on the pavement and off while on the dirt?

Some more photos of the lift being put on

New and old rear springs

5100s and OME 881s

Installed (don't mind the rust it's in the process of being fixed)

Rear being worked on

Diff Drop

New Tacoma LBJs and OTREs

ISR Mod

So I took some measurements today and I am at
Front 37.75"
Rear 40.75" (less than half tank)

I am wondering if this is too much rake and what would the cons be in stepping up the front one perch on my Tundra Billies (.65" more)?

Mine are set on the third notch and they are fine. i have the TRD tundras tho.

I think I have read that the TRD coils will give you about 2" of lift on there own so if my OME coils are giving me 2" of lift than I should be good to bump up to the 3rd notch.

As long as the bolts aren't seized it only takes like 30 mins max. I sprayed some PB Blaster on a few hours before tackling the job and the bolts came off pretty easy.
