With big tires come big responsibilities... ran into this problem tonight.

We measured the best we could and put them on. I also had to trim the bottom of the limited flaring on the back doors because of the angle of the sliders were causing contact with the kickouts. Definitely not as tucked up as I wanted them to be but overall, they look good and they'll do job. I wish they were about 1" shorter. I'll get more pics up tomorrow.

Also did my panhard drop. With my new little Milwaukee toy it made it a breeze :D

If I ran aftermarket front UCA's will it give me the room needed to ditch my spacers but still run 35s or would I have to downgrade to like a 34"? I'm wanting to order tires very soon and this would help to know.

Damn that sucks. It's going to be close once you get new tires. Also I'm a bit surprised you still had to trim that back the rear flare with the 1.5" body lift. They sure look good though!

2" body lift! I even had Jerry ship me flat I plates instead of L plates bc I knew the body lift was going to come into a factor somehow. I should have told him I only wanted a 10* slant instead of the 20*. Too late now lol!!! I need to figure out my spacers/tires/UCA issue now.

Hmmm, I guess the 1" body lift I was going to do wouldn't have been enough. Yeah I think 15* would have been perfect for you. Maybe Full Throttle can get his done at 10* or something like that. I freaking hate the limited flares and cladding sometimes. Do the tires rub at all?

The tires don't rub on normal every day driving, at least I haven't tried to yet. I know at mid to full lock turned will rub for sure. There is about 1/2" on the end of the sliders towards the front I could possibly end up cutting off and replating if I need to. They look alright, I just hate that we couldn't get them flush up on the body.

Lame, I guess I should have told Jerry to make them 67", but in the thread I started I got a consensus for 68". At least there is a little room to trim up front, but not something you want to do to some new sliders.

They will rub after you get new tires.

Exactly.. which is why I'm trying to find out if one of the many available aftermarket UCA's will allow me to run a 35 with no spacers, or at least just a 1/4" spacer. I really don't want to have to sell my LX450 wheels but if I have to get new wheels with lower backspacing I guess I will.

Either that or get smaller tires. No one makes a damn 34" though.

My only LAST hope is with my suspension. My front end sags and only is lifted about 2.5". That puts the sliders closer to the center of the tire where there is more tread. When I get the coil overs on and get me back closer to 3" it will lift the sliders with it and get them farther away from the center of the tire.

You could just shave off a portion of the bottom part of the front and rear of the slider and make it round. I think that will help clear the tires a bit more. I'd say pretty much any aftermarket UCA will clear 35's and 4.5 BS, but the 231's will be the problem. That's one of the reasons I won't be sticking with the LX wheels.

Also don't get 34's as you will regret it. You should be able to work it out and with aftermarket UCA's you can set the caster a bit more positive to push the tire forward a little more.

SH1T... I forgot all about my tundra brakes! Welp, looks like I'm screwed lol

I'll figure it out in the long run. If I have to cut the sliders down a tad and replate I will. Like I said, I'm hoping those coilovers will put me back at 3" and give me better clearance.

Yeah the 231's are great, but really limit you. I think UCA's, some trimming and the new lift will work great for you. At least they look good, lol. Got any pics of the trimming to the flares?

Yeah we are defiantly going to have to adjust the angle on kickout sliders for the 4runners. Even with a BL that rear door just gets in the way. and a 35" tire option of 65" so you can clear those tires at full stuff.

I think 67" would be good. If anything make them about 66.5" long. 65" would be too short and not cover the ends of your rocker panel where rocks like to damage. Thanks for chiming in. It sucks to be the guinea pig, but I will make it work and I'm glad I've made it aware for you. Thanks Jerry.

Good to know we can make them 67" without any modification to the tubes You are the first guys running 35's that's running them so i'm taking your word for it.

I would try to see if you can get away with 66.5" without any kind of tube modification. The front could use about 1" off to be absolutely safe. A 1/2" off the rear. Then just call it 67" so you don't sound like a weirdo with the 66.5" sliders :D

You can't see the trimming unless you literally get under and look at it. The average joe wouldn't notice a difference.

Otherwise, looks great

Question:

I saw that Jerry sent you I plates instead of L plates for the frame, since you knew the body lift would come into play. Looking at this picture, it looks like the gussets go nearly all the way up to the top of the framerail as-is. So if you were able to mount them closer to the body (if you had no issues with the flares) would the gussets have to be cut down? Looks like they would be too tall to fit on the frame & would stick up. Or maybe I'm just looking at it wrong.

I'm interested in these as well, and am running SR5 flares, so a little different setup than Limited flares for sure...just trying to think the whole thing through. No offense ARKRWLR, I don't want us to BOTH be guinea pigs.

No, you're absolutely right. There might have been a little space before having to cut but not much. If I was able, like you said, to get them closer to the body yes I would have had to cut them. I understand not wanting to be a guinea pig as well. I was Jerry's 2nd or 3rd client for the 3rd gens and we're just needing to get all the kinks worked out. SC was his first and he had them done at 0* of angle. I was the first to come across these issues. Thanks for the question.

If anyone else has questions, feel free to ask.

I pulled the trigger on a new set of Mickey Thompson MTZ's today.. Talk about feeling exhausted. I got a damn good deal though. They should be here by the weekend. Can't wait to rid of these bald xterrains lol.
