ok, I've been secretly looking for a new rig. Haven't been too too serious about it, but I've been kind of bored with the runner lately. I've been wanting a truck for a while, and I came across this today...
Sleeper 3 Link Tacoma - Pirate4x4.Com : 4x4 and Off-Road Forum
2004, 65k original miles, one owner, definitely has some nice goodies. Would make a good DD/Crawler/Expo rig. Since I don't have any plans to buy a beat up trailer queen any time soon this would be a good rig for me.
Things I don't like:
Manual Trans
Non power interior (coming from Limited 4Runner, I'm spoiled)
Wouldn't hurt to regear
Would want different lockers (selectable preferred)
It's in freaking California and I can't see it in person
What yall think? Opinions? Should I just muscle up and keep the 4runner. The only problem is I don't want to sas the 4runner cus I don't want to destroy it, it's way too nice. With the Taco, I wouldn't feel as bad.
Chances are, If I did buy this I wouldn't get rid of the 4Runner right away. I'd wheel the Taco for a little while and make sure it's what I want.

I don't know dude, you've put a lot into your rig. My vote would be stick w/ the T4R. Maybe the feelings for the truck will fade.
For instance, I'm jonesing for an Infiniti FX50 at the moment and trying to keep that a secret from my 4Runner, but I wouldn't give up mine for it.
I can definitely see both sides though, you've had a Toyota truck like that before if I remember correctly.

Buy that Taco. I like it a lot. It's sweet. I bet you could easily swap transmission between it and your 4Runner and sell your 4Runner for even more.

Its def a nice rig, if you really want/need a truck then that seems like a good investment.
Every time I want to sell my runner and start a new build I remind myself of the old saying "The grass is always greener on the other side b/c its fertilized w/ Bull$hit!"
I'm also a big believer in "built not bought"...I think building a rig lets you familiarize yourself with how everything works, what "short cuts" may have been taken and where any weaknesses may lie.

-Manual trans and 4.10's aren't going to be a big deal with 33's and 4.7's in the t-case but if you're wanting to jump to 35's or 37's that's a different story. And then you'll want to consider hydro assist too.
-I'm with you I'd want power windows and locks
-Re-gear would be a must if you're jumping tire size
-If you're driving it every day a selectable in the rear is a must in my opinion
-Would you have it shipped or would you fly out and go get it?
From the pics it looks like good fab work but it's always hard to say for sure until you see it in person.

The Taco didn't work out. Wished it would have. I would have surely missed the 4Runner but that Taco was exactly what I've been wanting for a while now. Oh well, everything happens for a reason. Anyways, gonna be doing some work to the runner in preparation for the Toyota Jamboree. Looking at ordering a winch (finally). I'm interested in the new Smittybilt X20 lineup they just released this month. Waterproof, wireless built in, 100' 3/8" synthetic line, beefier internals and warranty is better than a lot out there. Lifetime mechanical and 5 year electrical! Just don't know if it will fit in the ARB.

Last weekend I finally got some work done. Swapped out my leaky cruddy steering rack with another oem one. Replaced my output shaft seal on the transfer case, and finally installed my Icon UCA's. Still got a couple more things I'd like to do before the Jambo.
Also, switching it up a little.. Getting rid of the 35x16s and moving to 35x17 maxxis trepadors on 17x8.5 Walker Evan Beadlocks

Nice - I love those walker evan beadlocks. I was contemplating the treps but after comparing the radial treps to the stickies, I couldn't get the stickie's sidewall out of my head hahaha. Also the radial treps have a very hard compound. Still a badass tire though, interested to see how you like em! Gonna be sweet!

I know right, the radials sidewalls don't even come close to the sidewalls on the stickies! But, they should be fine aired down to 5psi lol. I'm looking forward to the switch up, too.. I'm very pleased with the MTZ's but not so much with how much it took to balance them. I figured, why not go for a new look all together. I ALMOST went with the IROK ND's. I'll be getting the beadlocks next week. Found a good deal on them locally.
