Those pics were taken immediately after I bolted everything back in, so I'm sure there will be some changes to the wrinkles and dimples as it gets lived in (and things warm up around here). I can probably manipulate the bolsters and foam a bit to smooth out some. I haven't even tried the heat gun approach yet.

To be honest, for me - which is who it matters to (haha) - it's perfectly acceptable. I support paying professionals to do professional work, but that also assumes the professional you hire will produce acceptable results. That's not always the case. And once the job is done, it's done. I wouldn't want a professional I was b!thcing at tearing apart my interior again. It all depends on the professional I suppose. I'll bet I was more careful with plastic trim pieces, and plastic clips and all than a hired professional would be (because its MY car). So, again, if you can find the right professional you trust and have the coin to pay him, that's great too.

I have some personal pride in doing the job myself and have added another ability (debatable I suppose) to my skill sets. I love the look on people's faces when they ask who put them in and I say "me".

Out of curiosity, what did the dealer charge you to install the Katzkin kit? $500? $1500? Free with an oil change?

We charge 1100 installed for katskins on any new vehicle and you pick whatever color pattern or design you want. Not bad spread out over the life of the financing.

Yup, I'm surprised like [MENTION=131488]ST1FLER[/MENTION] that it's 1100 total. I looked quite a bit and couldn't find a basic Katzkin kit for less than about $800. I chose a few upgrade options (upgraded leather content, perforations, contrast colors and stitching) that bumped my total kit cost to right at $1000 'parts'.

Even if you get some sort of special wholesale or dealer discount I can't imagine a standard Katzkin kit being less than $500 or so. Anyways...it's gotta take even the most experienced shop at least 8 total man hours to do this job start to finish and at...what....$90/hour....that's over $700 in labor. I guess that's about $1200 or so.

Heck...I don't know. If someone can get a complete custom Katzkin leather interior installed by professionals in a day for $1100 total, that's pretty awesome and something people should look into.

Seems about right, dealer charges 1500 for katzkins installed. Dealer gets charged 1100 from shop, total labor and leather. When I bought my t4r, they called installer to give me dealer price. With labor, seats and heated seats, cost me 1320 plus tax.

Courtesy Chevrolet and Cadillac in Broussard, LA. That is for anything other than the Escalades/Suburbans or 3rd row vehicles. We do it all the time for people to be able to buy a less expensive truck and just add the install to the deal. Our installer is Castille autoworks in Carencro, LA.

Got my Katzkin dark graphite leather installed today. All 3 rows $1399 and they threw in the center console cover. The cushioning is great

Void how? Pretty sure if you break something installing it, you'll have to fix it yourself. But I'd like to see the dealer blame a warranty issue on aftermarket leather seat covers. Oh to be a fly on the wall for that discussion...

(Don't worry about it. It would be up to the dealer to prove the upgrade caused the issue, assuming you ever have one)
