Katzkin Leather

How much did heat and cool add? I was quoted $1400 installed for just the leather.

It was basically another $2K to add the ventilation on top of the $1400 for the leather in both rows. I'm sure I could have negotiated that down lower but I really wanted it done and it was more work than I was willing to do myself.

Updating this. Just got back from visiting my old man who bought my
last 5th gen, truck had dealer installed Katskinz from day 1. It’s a 2013 with 80k on the clock. Seats are in great shape, especially the side bolsters on the bottom half. No cracks and still nice and firm.

Is everyone still liking their Katzkin seats? Recently picked up a 2016 SR5 with just under 20,000 on it for a good price. It has cloth seats and no heat. I am thinking of adding leather and heated seats. I think they want $1600 for the 2 rows of seats and $500 something for the heat. Did I mention a whopping $75 military discount to boot.

That's about right for the price, at least compared to what I paid. I definitely like the feel of the Katzkin leather, however I'm honestly not super impressed by the durability. I'm coming up on 40K miles, and my driver's seat has some pretty noticeable signs of wear/rubbing on the seat & lower backrest portions. Granted, the driver's seat gets FAR more use than the others do, so I would expect this wear pattern to a certain degree, but for a 2 year old vehicle I'm not overly impressed. It makes me wonder if I should have stuck with the original SofTex instead. I love the feel of the perforated leather, but for $1600+, not sure it's worth the upgrade. Just my 2 cents.

I'm not thrilled with the Softex seats in the 4Runner. I talked with Katzkin after seeing people here are replacing their covers. Auto Action is their installer in NJ in Kenilworth. They wanted $1395 for front seats or $1595 for both rows. The rears are only part leather. Add $300 if you wanted perforated leather.

So...paid my 4Runner off last week and to celebrate I did my first real mod. I have had this in mind since I bought my '16 Trail. I am not a fan of a sunroof, I know lots of people love them and that's great, just not my cup of tea. But, I really love leather in my rides, so I decided to get the regular Trail version with cloth seats and I would upgrade to leather later down the road.

Well, I had the Katzkin leather installed yesterday at my Toyota Dealer, same price as all the other quotes I got so I decided to go through them.

Leather Choice was Dark Graphite, with Red Stitching to match the red stitching that comes with the Trail. Also had seat heaters installed.

Next up is the wheels, ordered a set of FN FX Pro Matte Black wheels, should be here next week!

Then I will start saving and researching suspension lifts, 3" lift with some 285's.
4 years later I wanted to know if you regret going with Katzkin instead of another installer. I'm looking toward katzkin myself on my 01 4runner but wanted to get opinions of others around the Toyota World.

I had the cloth seats in my 2013 Trail redone with Katskinz before I took delivery. Bought new in 2013.

A few months back I traded it in for a 2020 TRDP. 7 years, 100K miles on the Trail and the seats still looked great.

Highly recommended.

My wife had Katskinz installed on her 2012 Tundra when she purchased it new and they have held up very well over the past 12 years.

I find the Katzkin website to be a little confusing. It basically says the seat covers are not seat covers. So, are they just installed on your current seats, or do you get a second pair of seats? Also, are the controls on the seats, or on the console where the driver can access both? Thanks!

What they mean is that they're not the typical seat slip covers like you'd find at AutoZone.

The installers strip the current seat material exposing the foam padding and the Katzkin covers literally replace the existing material.
