Kazaa, Limewire or what?

I just got a new mac and iPod and am wondering what you all use to download music? I have used Kazaa before but my girlfriend suggests Limewire... what do you mac users use (PC too) Thanks alot, joe p.

i used to use bearshare and loved it until norton antivirus started hating on it, so now ive moved to limewire and am not too fond of it but it gets the job done. Especially with iTunes cause you can just highlight and drag from the limewire window over to your itunes window, that easy. I might try and go back to bearshare though. Also i sometimes just end up buying an album off of the iTunes music store because its too hard to download an entire album and weed out the chopped up songs and get the full versions and all that crap, plus its legal and the organizing in your library is not affected(i.e. when you have to search online for who the artist is or what album)

Thanks for the fast response! I guess i might as well try the limewire and see how that goes... i guess i just dont want to learn a new one.. haha.. well if you end up switching to bearshare let me know how it goes! Good luck and thanks alot! oh yeah, i love my new mac!

Just got Limewire to supplement Ares Lite.......both work very well currently

Limewire and WinMX here. Only problem with WinMX is that , lately, it is being flooded with bogus files by the recording industry.

Also just stared using Bit Torrent. Have only used it once, so I cannot give it any kind of review yet.

I have used up my free burning privileges on MusicMatch. I need to be able to convert file types like: (MP3 to WAV) (WAV to MP3) What free sources are you guys using for this? I have a Plextor and a LG CD-R/RW drives, but the watered down software that comes with the products sucks. Also my Plextor is 48/24/48 but always burns around 19 and nowhere near 48 speed. Am I doing something wrong here? Are there control settings to speed it up without compromising quality? Free music is so cool.

download acquisition, it is by far the best P2P software for MAC.

I have a 15" 1.5ghz powerbook and buying it was the best thing i've ever done.

Acquisition is good because it's fast. i've downloaded thousands of dollars worth of programs, but i think it sucks trying to find music.

for music you need soulseeX...the Mac version of soulseek.

I stick with non-MAC computers because I usually build my own by buying mother board, processor, ram, & video card separately. We need three computers in my household so this is an economical solution. This year I have two kids in high school, so maintaining the computers is as important as maintaining my vehicles.

my friend's brother in-law and brother does this too. my friend gets a new computer usually every 1.5-2 years custom made w/ top of the line hardware in it for a ton less than what Dell would charge. i've been tempted to buy one, but i use Mac exclusively because of my job line, although at work we use PCs as well. and yeah, Mac's, as much as i love them are grossly overpriced imo.
