KDSS sway bar end link bushing updated with flanges?

Just got my replacement front KDSS sway bar end link bushings. Toyota Part # 48849-60041.

I noticed the new bushings have flanges on each side. The original bushings on my 2014 do not have these flanges. I doubt it makes a difference either way, but I was curious if anyone else noticed this and knows when or why it was changed.

For anyone who has installed new KDSS bushings, is it really necessary to drop the entire front sway bar (all 4 clamps)? I'm wondering if I can simply remove the end bushing bracket (one side at a time) and pop the new bushing in. It's been 4 years since I installed the lift and don't recall how much tension is retained on just the end clamps independent of the main KDSS clamps near the piston. Keep wheels on or off?

betcha can finagle it in there without fully removing the 2 bolts. but might be more hassle than its worth. Support with jack remove bolts, slide floor jack back and the whole piston will swing out and you can replace bushings. Use lots of grease so keep squeaks down.

I worked one end at a time. Use a ratchet strap to keep the swaybar in place when you remove one bracket. You may need to play with the tension to get the holes the realign when you install the new bushing, but it’s a rather easy install.

Kind of related question, but does anyone know how to go about changing the bushings on the piston/solid link? I want to do all 4 at once.
