Recently I purchased my first ‘05 4Runner V8 sports edition… It came with only one key and no Key Fob. I ended up purchasing a key fob from ikeyless and programmed it with the provided instructions…. Everything worked well, doors and rear window….
The only issue I had was the darn panic button and the frequent alarm that went-off… as simple has handling it my hand the darn alarm went off… as well as in my pocket…
So I took a closer look and compared the Fob to my Fob from my Lexus LS400 which I never had this issue with… they look almost identical except the panic button was just a touch below the surface on my Lexus Fob compared to the 4R Fob being above the surface.
So, the plan was to take the back off (same as if one would replace the battery) and gently take the red button out of his boot and grind it down a bit.
Did that with a dremel grinder while holding the button with a pair of pliers.
Placed the button back into the rubber boot and back together….
And now we have the troubble … back-window down button set’s off the alarm the other two buttons work fine … even the panic button works …
I took it back apart to see if I missed anything but nothing…
The battery was never removed .. All I did was remove the back and the red panic button out of his rubber boot.
Any thoughts on this issue ? Please let me know.
Thanks.
