Key fob question

Key fob question:
I have two keys were the key fobs and all the sudden both of them were unable to lock or unlock the car. I replace the battery in my main key and made no difference. What do you suspect could be the problem? I thought about disconnecting the battery and rebooting the circuitry just to see if that helped. Let me know your thoughts

Double check that the batteries are installed properly, you can probably go to any parts store and ask them to check the signal strength of the keys (most have an RF reader). This will tell you if the keyfob itself is working properly (it's rare that both fail at the same time, but it's possible).

IF the keyfobs are working, then maybe it would be worth it to try reprogramming them (though if the vehicle already has them register programming will fail, because they're already learned so keep that in mind.)

I would say that if you only have two keys; something I would try is to erase the keyfob data and program them from scratch. I should also mention that I am talking about what is stored in the Main Body module, not the immobilizer side of things (Immobilizer has to do with the Key RIFD chip, the Key Fob/Keyless Entry features are programmed separately into the Body module).

Do-It-Yourself programming procedure is not available for this vehicle. This vehicle requires a diagnostic equipment to be connected to the vehicle to program the remote. You will need to find a local automotive locksmith or a dealer to program this remote.

I would try fresh batteries in both, especially if you use just one of them. The other may have had a dead battery for a while and you didn't notice. This happened to me. My backup's battery was bad and then the everyday keys went bad. I replaced the battery and all was good.

If it's just the battery then you won't need to have the fob programmed. Mine always survive dead batteries when I put in fresh ones.
