I know, reviving an old thread here, but I went to my dealer yesterday and asked them about this feature and they had no idea what I was talking about. I had to show them it was possible in the manual before the service manager would go ask his head tech about it. I waited about 20 minutes for him to come back out of the shop and finally just left.

Another vote for Carista, it's pretty foolproof. I hate coming to a hot car baking in the FL sun so I paid the $10 for a week long subscription to Carista. Already had a bluetooth OBDII dongle but those are another $10 or $20 on Amazon.
Got my windows to roll down, seatbelt chime and eco light disabled, and a few other random things with lighting.
I'm assuming you have to have some type of cable to plug into to the access port in order to use this, correct? I have a cable for my VW (VAGCOM) that allows coding, is this the same concept?
I just looked on the app store, and Carista was free. I didn't see any other versions available. Did I get the wrong app? Also, is there a particular dongle that is needed with Carista? Thanks!

The App is free, but you have to pay to make changes. $10 for a one-week pass and you can customize lots of things. I also got rid of the "eco-meter" bar graph nonsense.

pcrdude nailed it. The free app should be able to pull codes and maybe some other basic stuff but you gotta pay to play.
I think any dongle will work as long as you can get it talking to your phone. The one he linked is cheaper with great reviews and even has a bluetooth version for $5 less.

Thats the funny thing about dealers. You never know what the techs will say. We just assume they know A LOT about the vehicles they service but I try to give them all the benefit of the doubt. I took my truck in for warranty service and asked for this change and they knew right away what I was talking about and said that it would take less than 5 minutes. No charge for it either. I love it because I can open windows and allow my black 4R to ventilate before I get in for a ride.

I am looking to get a 16 or 17 pretty soon, and haven't yet been able to find out if any model key fob will open or close the rear tailgate window. I thought I saw somewhere that the limited can be lowered via the key fob, but have not seen that anywhere else. I have 03 limited and key fob only lowers window but you need to insert key to raise it. I thought that was weak 13 years ago, surely it must be better now.

I had a few things done at the dealer (free) with techstream
1- windows down
2- rear wiper time to 5 sec
3 turned off the ding for seatbelts
Question - any one that has done these are you still able put the rear window down with the key... I can't. going back to the dealer next week.

First, let me say that I find it ridiculous that in this year of 2016... all of the software/data/information is available in our vehicles... we have a touch LCD screen... and yet manufacturers still hide the data output from OBD II and make the vehicle customization difficult to access.
That being said, I recently purchased Carista and Veepeak Mini WiFi OBD2 OBD II. I was able to change several configurations, but two items I can't seem to resolve in my 2014 4Runner Trail Premium are as follows:
1) Sunroof will not open with the windows. It won't open with the key fob, nor with the key... but all four front & rear windows work.
2) ECO green dash light will not turn off even though the setting is set to disable it. Or is the setting for the bar meter display (and you can't disable the green dash light)?
Has anyone else had these issues and been able to resolve without the actual TechStream software? If yes... how and what year/model do you have?

The annoying green Eco lamp you should be able to turn on/off through your setting screen on the dash. Push the display button until you get to the settings screen. Push and hold display button until the setting menu appears. Push the display button to move down to the "ECO LAMP" menu option. When ECO LAMP is option is selected push and hold the display button to get to the on/off selection menu. Use the display button to select between On or Off push and hold the display button to activate your selection.
This is how I turned mine off on my 2016 TEP
Sorry cant help you with the sunroof haven't messed with that one yet. May want to look at the feature that says "Wireless remote control Link" and turn that on under the moon roof menu. That's what I had to turn on to make my windows roll down with the key fob. I did mine at the dealership with there software and computer. Hope this helps some.
You may not want the sunroof to auto-open with the windows via the key fob. My fear is that the unlock button somehow gets pushed while in my pocket, or my 6 year old picks up my keys and decides to hold the button down for a few seconds. Then it rains. Then you're f*cked.

I used the same software/hardware you did. Only the front and back windows roll down. I'm OK with that and the car airs out quickly. I open the windows while in my office (third floor), and the car is all aired out by the time I get there. Green eco light is a display setting accessed by steering wheel controls. I turned it off, then removed the eco-bar-graph using Carista.
