Key fob set to open all windows?

Local dealer took care of push button key fob all windows down today while installing remote starter.

Interesting note we both learned, remote start requires doors to be locked to work, but windows can be down. I don't think this will be an issue but something feels off about that combination haha

Find a new dealer, I've gone in on more than one occasion to have them program something and it has been free every time.

I didn't pay a dime for it. That is crazy. Still pissed i cant roll down my rear with the fob. Seems like the most practical use.

This has been my 1 biggest issue with my new 5th gen, both of my 4th gens had a button right on the remote so when you're carrying groceries or dog food you could just hit the button and the rear window would roll down, it was handy and a lot of people were impressed with this feature when I'd be walking toward my truck in the parking lot and hit the button. Why they got rid of this for the 5th gen is beyond me

How much did you guys drop on the carista/dongle setups?

...im getting tempted but I wanted to see how much it would cost (trying to save up for lift!)

About $15 they have cheaper ones though, I've tried a couple that friends have and you don't have to break the bank.

pcrdude nailed it. The free app should be able to pull codes and maybe some other basic stuff but you gotta pay to play.

I think any dongle will work as long as you can get it talking to your phone. The one he linked is cheaper with great reviews and even has a bluetooth version for $5 less.

Did this dongle allow you to play with dealer only settings like removing the flash/beep when unlocking the 4Runner or allow you to roll the windows down with fob?
Curious because it doesn't claim to do any of those in Amazon's description.

The dongle doesn't claim to do any of these things because the dongle doesn't do them. All the dongle does is bridge Bluetooth and OBDII. It's totally agnostic to anything you might want to do with that bridge. Nothing about it is Toyota specidic. Once you have the dongle plugged into the vehicle and paired with your phone you then use an app called Carista to make the changes you describe. There are other apps as well - for example Torque allows you to monitor oBDII to display things like transmission oil temperature and to read and reset diagnostic codes.

I recently activated the one week Carista App license. Here is my 2018 computer images from Carista. Not listed in order. 2017 4runner is the exact same. I also changed a Camry and Rav4. Their computer options were different.

I asked the dealer about programming the windows to go down with FOB push, enabling them to to go up with a key turn in driver door, and disabling the seat belt dings for both passenger and driver side. He responded that he'd see what he could do, they typically wants to charge the hourly rate, but he came through - all items were completed free of charge.

I ended up talking to their lead service tech and he mentioned that the rear window won't go down on mine (2018 TRDORP) with the fob push -- but it does for some -- depending on options/model. I am guessing model year also plays a part in that.

As others have said, find another dealer or go for the Carista app. Doing it yourself will be cheaper than an hour of labor ($125), if you can't find a dealer to help you out.

$8 for an eBay WiFi dongle. And the app will read codes for free, it’s just the advance stuff that u pay for and there’s a one week pass. Dealer near me wanted $160 to do it, I’ll pay $10 week pass to do it myself instead. Cheaper then the gas it would take to go to another dealer.

I posted this on another thread, but it looks like the Carista customization options are different than what's in my manual, specifically for the moonroof. The manual shows that the moonroof can be set to "close only" but Carista shows only one setting to "open windows and moonroof with remote." Manual image attached.

I want to be able to open the windows with the remote without opening the moonroof but be able to use the key in the door to close everything.
