I found out that the keyless entry beep volume can be turned down or off by a scan tool at the dealership. I went to my selling dealer, and they would not do it for free. I know i read a thread a while back where a lot of people were saying that they got it done for free at the place they bought it new from, so i want anyone who has inquired about this to let me know what your experience was.

I had mine done for free at the dealer I purchased from (Longo Toyota). If you recently purchased your truck, maybe cal your salesperson or sales-manager and see if they will 'hook you up'. Otherwise, it's not uncommon for the dealerships to charge you. Utlimately, the change takes them less than 5 minutes to do once they've spent 30 minutes to figure out the procedure.

FWIW: Here is a no cost way of turning down the beep. Open the hood
and press your remote and you will find the beep device attached to the
fender well. You can remove the device and tape the hole where the sound
comes from to either silence the beep or make it softer.
The stealerships seem to think any of the programming requires at least a
$80 programming charge even if it takes them 5 minutes. Just a way of
making some extra bucks. They should do (for free) a one time programming
of the way you want your T4R at the time you buy it. Actually the salesperson
should do this at delivery rather than rushing the commisson check to the bank.

Cliff, it isn't even necessary to use the remote to find the piezo just look at the following thread and you'll see exactly where it is.

Basically it has two connectors on one side of the ring. These connectors make a full sturdy circle when connected. I pulled the ends apart and pressed toward the center of the hole until one end was free. After that it was just pull it right off.

I too like the beep
I find the beep better than my previous honda accord, that would honk the horn. very annoying, especially when people would turn to look at whom they thought was honking at them.
Also I find the long beep, when the doors are not completely close, a great help. It allows me to know if my son hasn't closed the door completely, or even better, when he takes his time getting out of the vehicle, it allows him to understand that I'm in a hurry, and thus speeds him up as well.
