Keyless Entry, Key Fob problem

My Key Fob is not working, 2005 4runner. I do not think it is the battery as both key fobs do not work, one is fairly new with new battery. I swapped batteries in key fobs. Also, the key will not roll down the rear window anymore. I can roll up or down window from button on dash. This problem occurred a couple of weeks ago, fixed itself. Now problem persists.

So you're saying you put new batteries in the key fobs? and/or verified that unloaded the batteries are above 3.0~3.1v? New batteries for those start around 3.2v if I recall correctly.

Have you had anything installed recently before the issue started and/or have you done anything that you can think of that might have reset the memory in the vehicle somehow? (i.e. left it with a dead battery for a long time, ect.)

How is your vehicle battery? Does it crank slow? If I'm not mistaken, a battery that's going out will do that too? Can anybody confirm?

Bump...

I am having the same issue with my 07 limited.... the window initialization steps I've found on several threads dont appear to be working. Hoping someone has another idea.

Thanks

You will lose key fob operation if the dome light fuse is blown or shorted, check that first. If the fuse is ok check for foreign metal objects in the fuse box with a magnifying glass.

If that's not the problem I'd go through the steps to re-program the key fob.

Take all your key fobs with you and repeat steps 8 and 9 for each additional key fob.

If that doesn't fix it then I'd look at the wireless receiver, possible a short or loose contact somewhere or maybe it went belly up. It's located at the left rear pillar.

Good luck

Also this is a bit of long shot but you can try bending up the 3 metal prongs (gently) that sit under the battery.
Pic attached. If they're flattened the battery won't make sufficient contact.

same issue

Hello,

have you figured out the issue with your key fob not working. I have replaced the battery and checked all my fuses. My battery is relatively new. I was thinking it may be the wireless receiver, but before I spend money on purchasing a new one, I would like to make sure that's the issue. thank you
