keyless entry problem

2013 4R Limited.

I begin to park my 4R on the driveway since last month. I lock the doors and the next morning, when I approach it with the fob in my pocket, the car won't respond for maybe a minute or half of a minute. Nothing. Then it'll unlock when I touch the handle. It only happens when the car is parked outside overnight.

I leave the car in a parking garage where I work for the whole day, and the proximity keyless entry works perfectly at the end of the day.

I am scratching my head and have no clue what is going on.

But every morning, I have to stand by the car for a minute or so like an idiot, waiting for it to "wake up."

Has anyone experienced this? A new battery for the key?

My wife's nissan was doing the same. New battery in key and no problem since. New battery would be the cheapest way to start. If that doesn't do it then go on from there.

We have this intermittent problem with our 2000 Tundra. It's not keyless - you have to push the button on the fob. But sometimes it likes to unlock or lock its self! You get one or two beeps when it locks or unlocks and I heard them from the garage while in the house. I narrowed it down to one fob by pulling the batteries. It was doing it quite often and then the frequency got less. Since I never leave the keys or valuables in the truck, I'm not all that concerned.

Thanks for all of the responses. I'll change the batteries for the keys and see if that fixes it. Will report back. It is a 2013 model so the key is just three years old, maybe four. Maybe that is how long it is supposed to last.

It's getting cold and it isn't fun standing there in the cold with my coffee in one hand and backpack in another.

I read that in the O/M a few years ago when I bought my limited! Try taking a paper towel to the truck with you in the morning and try towel dry it 'BEFORE' you attempt to unlock the driver's door! Also... have you tried unlocking the front 'Passenger-side' door in the morning? I ask this because this problem with moisture has never effected my truck; 'Not-once' yet in four years, rain-or-shine! This leads me to believe that 'Toyota' warns of this problem with moisture on the door-handle, only when the door-handle(s) are defective or improperly sealed!

You can even test it yourself: try pouring a glass of water on the driver-side handle, then try to unlock it with a touch. Then do the same on the other side and note the results. If you do note a difference between the two there could be a problem with the D/S door handle! These can be purchased on ebay for a fraction of the dealer's cost! ...and please let us know what you find after running a few tests; it could potentially help to resolve this problem for quite a few folks here on this forum, 'Best to you',

So as promised, I am reporting back what fixed it. It is the battery in my case. I changed the battery and the issue went away. Simple as that.
