I would like to change the program on my 04 4runner keyless door lock so that I only have to push on the remote unlock button once and have all of the doors unlock. I have searched this site but cannot find info on programming an 04. I tried 03 programming directions with no luck. My 4runner has both the Toyota anti-theft system and the RS3200. Does anybody know how to program the door locks? Any help is greatly appreciated.

You'll have to take yours into the Dealership to get that kind of programming.
The only user defined programming you can do is to lock the doors when you take it out of park or when you reach a certain speed limit. You can also program all the doors to unlock when you put the gear back in park. You can find more specific info in your owners manual

To tell you the truth, I'm not really sure what equipment they use to do it. It's probably nothing more than hooking it up with a serial cable or something like that.
It should be a free service. I think other people on the board have had it done for free, while others have been charged for it. I guess it depends on the dealership, but if I were you I wouldn't pay for it. Just be firm that you don't want to pay for it and if that doesn't work, go to a different dealership and see what they'll do for you.

All 'programming' beyond what you can do yourself is done with the OEM scan tool. These tools hook up to the OBD-II interface under the drivers side dash and are aware of the proprietary commands (i.e. extensions to the standard OBD-II protocols) required to reflash the settings in the various ECUs of our trucks.
Depending on your dealer, you may be charged around $50 or nothing at all. I had a few settings done on my truck (about a month after I purchased it) for free. Maybe wait until you next take your truck in for service. When you go to pick it up, bring up the issue about the customizations and maybe they will do it 'on the spot' for you for free. It's worked for me. It's easier for them to give something away for free after you just (over)paid them for an oil change (etc).

I have the same problem (want) too. Just bought a 2005 4Runner, and the Owner's Manual said the Dealer can program this in. Took it back to my local Dealer (Gene Messer Toyota, Lubbock, TX) and they tried and tried and could not figure it out. They are going to make some inquiries (we'll see) and see if they can figure out how to do it.
They also were not able to figure out how to make the doors not lock until speed exceeded 12 mph, or not at all, once the vehicle is put in drive. Again, the Owner's Manual says this is owner-programable, but the described proceedure is not working for me or the Dealer's mechanics.
Anyone out there know how to remedy these two problems?

It also has to be in the correct gear position. I think it makes a difference depending on how you want to program it.
Any programming done regarding this requires that the button is pressed for exactly 5 seconds, I believe its 5. There is no range, so if you hold it for, say 4 seconds, or 6 seconds, it won't work. It has to be exactly 5. Either get a watch and count the seconds, or get lucky with not counting too fast or too slow.. That's most likely your problem.mjhdo1 said:

It took me a while to get the programming done but I found some other helpful threads on this site dealing with the problem.

Same here! I REALLY want to have the doors unlock when you put the vehicle in park, but the owner's manual just says to see the dealer.

That is not true. That feature is user programmable. My doors look when I take the vehicle out of park, and then unlock all doors when placed in park.

For security for my wife and also for me I like that if I push the unlock button ONLY the drivers door will unlock. If I am in an unsecure location I don't like the idea of all of my doors being unlocked just for me to get in. We have all seen the ads on TV where the single person is getting into their car in a parking lot and there is a perp lurking in the shadows. I don't want all the doors unlocking at that time.

I also don't have a problem with pressing the button on the remote twice to open the doors for them.

That is correct mine works the same way. You have to manually switch over the look, it does not work with just the door handle. I was told it is for safety so that kids playing with the handle can't open the door by accident and the kids are old enough not to need the child safety lock.

Ok I was wrong - only the front doors open from the inside when locked (as several of you correctly mentioned). I was also able to find the programming in my manual this time - am I blind or what?! It's on page 25 if anyone else is looking.
So now I have the automatic-lock-when-shift-selector-is-moved-out-of-park disabled, and automatic-lock-upon-reaching-12mph enabled. Plus, I set it to unlock all the doors when the driver door is opened within 10sec of turning engine off.
This seems to be the perfect combination of safety and convenience for us.

I would love to be able to hit my button once to unlock all the doors, and was just trying to do this today, but could not get it to work on my 06 limited. Attached is a copy of the directions I was following for the RS3200 which you have... I am not certain if my vehicle also has the RS3200 or not, but it may work for you.
Does anyone else have a step-by-step procedure like this that worked for for you... something other than taking to the dealer to have them try to do it!
