Kicker is hot garbage , Oem+ is mediocre at best. There is much better equipment out there. Morel tempo line, focal, jl c3, hertz l, audiofrog

If someone were to throw in the speakers you listed without actual build and tuning.. I'm not sure if it would be much better?

Anything is better than the hot garbage that's in there OEM. Hell, move your fader to just the rear and listen to how crappy the speakers are. Pretty sure the only tweeters in the car are the ones in the dash.

I had JL for subs/mids and preferred them by a long shot over kickers. I Can't really speak for them now since it's been 5+ years since I installed my audio system, and this was on a Grand Marquis.

The (currently $588) Kicker plug-n-play combo details on the Kicker website, 6x9"/tweeter and 6.5" speakers
The (currently $699) OEM+ plug-n-play speaker set specs on their website.
The specs for both are very close, possibly cone material being one difference. Has anyone heard the sound quality from both these speaker sets with and without an external amp?

I'm currently in your same situation. Was hoping for a Memorial Day Sale to sway my decision. I'm not a Audiophile but do agree that the stock speakers are lacking. I'm also not looking to add a subwoofer so one of these 2 plug and play speaker options are what I plan on picking.
I like the focals 6x9 up front with tweeters in the dash , plug n play. I have powerbass oe652-ty 6.5'' in rear and hatch
After retrofitting a 2022 head unit in the 2017 model the power to the speakers is lacking. I plan on installing a kicker 47key200.4 amp to help out .
Interested in this too - I have a 2022 SR5 Premium, the audio is meh at best...and the other day I told the factory nav to take me "home" just for shiggles; I was 35 miles away and it was literally a straight line on the freeway. It decided to plot a route on all the sidestreets parallel to the freeway...the toll-free freeway that I was already driving on...even though it was configured for the quickest route. The nav system is hot garbage, too, so I'm looking for a nav headunit and speakers at this point. Sadly the TrailGridPro Sony units are fantastic for entertainment, not so great for navigation.
