KinevilsT4R Build Thread

Here's my build thread of my 4runner from the first day I bought it. After driving around an 07 Tacoma Dbl cab TRD Sport for 4 years I decided I was done making payments. Plus I made the mistake of buying a prerunner so off to carmax I went. Sold the Tacoma and got a pretty good chunk of change after pay off. Was searching around craigslist and found a pretty good deal...

2000 4Runner SR5 4x4 with only 130k miles, Toytec Ultimate Lift on 285s! This is the first pic taken after I got it.

What you see is what I got. Home made bumpers and all! Gotta love Smittybuilt tube bumpers

Some "wheeling" pics after I got it.

First thing that I HAD to do was get rid of that bumper. Was doing some research and luckly I found a fab shop that was local (OutdoorLogic). So with the extra money I had from selling the Tacoma I told Jim make me one of everything!

On goes the ODL front bumper w/ Budbuilt Skids n Bellys

Then went on the ODL sliders w/ 7in. HID offroad lights for the bumper. Also put in my HIDs from the Tacoma in the headlights. 6000k

At this stage of the build I had 4.88 Yukon gears with Aussie Locker in the rear and a Detroit Tru Trac up front.

Then I painted my stock fender trim black along with my rockers. I used Duplicolor Bumper Coating. The finish came out a clean satin black.

Next I replaced the OME 891s in the rear for some LX450 8wrap coils. Wanted more lift in the rear to compensate for the "sag" I would get from my rear bumper. This thing is badass! Thanks Jim! :guitar2:

And the bullet hole shot!

Some near future mods to be installed/bought:

-Built Right Upper Control Arms w/ uniballs that are waiting to be installed.
-Re-locate CB antenna to the ODL Drifter mount
-Black Rugged Trail Ed Tacoma wheels
-New tires, leaning towards Duratracs
-Wheel spacers
-Roof rack of some sort

Thats its for now, I'll update this thread as I go along. Enjoy!

Off to an awesome start man. Sounds like you had a nice platform to start with. Keep posting updates man.

Thanks for the compliments so far guys. Here's some photos from my recent Calico trip. Most of the pics are from going up and down Duran. Even got a pic of me pulling my buddies Cherokee :bravo:

Great build! That was definitely the most interesting front bumper I've ever seen. The ODL one looks SICK.

Update! Got my BuiltRight Upper control arms in. Alignment seems good now with the 3in. lift. Do you absolutly need them for a lifted vehicle, probably not. At least I won't have ripped upper balljoints now. Pimp factor check! Polyurethane bushing sqeak check!

I'm surprised I've never seen you around since your down the street from me. Control arms I would say are a must do around that lift height... At least if you want an upper ball joint that isn't limiting your movement.

It seems like I spend most of my days off working on the 4Runner. From replacing leaky power steering return hoses, swaping axles, replacing broken shocks to painting wheels black!

Freshly washed, painted satin black wheels, 1.5in wheel spacers w/ custom rock rash from John Bull. :cowboy: (dont mind the window glare) Also a pic of our group after John Bull.

sweet build so far! Looks like you were willing to drop some $$ with all these mods.

Pictures looks awesome. Looking forward to following this build thread.

Thanks for the compliments. Next on the list would have be a winch and possibly a new tire/wheel combo. Thinking of stuffing some 35's!

So this is a little off the topic of your build, but since you mentioned your 07 Tacoma I have to ask. Ive wanted a Tacoma for years now, just cant afford it yet. But from your perspective now that you own a 3rd gen 4runner, how did your Tacoma ride and handle? Did you love the truck, or was it just so so? Just overall what were your impressions of it?

Man I loved that truck! It was so much fun to drive with the sport package LSD. The 4.0 motor is a beast!

Some of the "mods" I did to that truck: URD TCAI, URD Maf Cal, NST Crankshaft Pulley, Magnaflow Muffler, 5100s w/ TSB leafs, BHLM, Anytime Foglights, Smoked Tail lights, Grillcraft, WeatherTech Floormats, Scangauge II, Custom TRD Sport Stickers, Debaged w/TRD emblem, Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armors

I just wish I would of got it in 4x4. I would probably still have it. With the Bilstein 5100s up front w/ TSB leafs the ride was smooth on and offroad. It was no trail truck though.

Here's some pics that I scrounged up. My truck is on the far left.
