That only changes static ride height. The suspension cycle will always be the same, and as such, you will continue to rub in that spot. You will have to do some clearing to accommodate the larger tire. Wheel backspacing, tire width, tire height all play pretty large rolls in clearance issues. But suspension stroke stays constant.

Aftermarket UCAs can assist in setting the wheels more forward and away from the firewall than stock OEM UCAs. Outside of that, people address rubbing issues with either a BL, a hammer, or tubbing.

Forgot to mention I have spc uca's also was looking to lift it to level the front to the back.

Just as he is in that thread. I'm thinking about moving my SPC uca's to the G setting to move the wheels forward but I've read that only allows caster to be around 1.4 to 1.6. I'm at 2.1 now and feel it's a bit touchy on the highway.

I trimmed some today and not really rubbing anymore but that's just on road driving it only use to rub while backing up. Not any longer though.

Thinking also of going down in tire size from 295 to 285. Thanks

Got it. I can't speak to the 295s but with 285s that type of rubbing is related to the backspacing of the wheels and despite what is commonly assumed, wheel spacers can sometimes make the rubbing occur where it would not have or even make small rubbing much worse.

Anyways how about shifting over to the thread I linked because this no longer (as others already stated) has anything to do with King Coilovers.

Do you happen to know what the max preload measurement is for king 2.5 Coilovers is?

I've been looking for that measurement online today and can't find it. I'd like to know if I would be safe to adjust my fronts up to level it with the rear. Thanks

I don't personally know that but perhaps someone else does. Are your coils set at the factory preload? You should definitely be fine to adjust them up from factory, most of us did. You can also call King if you don't find a good answer here on the forum. I posted my adjusted preload measurements in my build thread.

I have no idea what factory preload is. I bought my 4runner used with the kings already installed.

I'll call them Wednesday and ask and mention the fact I have front bumper, full rci steel skids, and sliders. I'll ask about preload and spring weight they recommend.

You may have seen this already, but if not, I will bring this thread to your attention.

I recalled that I posted some similar info to what you are looking for. Check out post #9 in particular.

I will say that I am about to make a few adjustments. I am running the upper end, if not the most preload that I have come across. I am running 600# springs. I am close to 3" of lift up front.

I have since swapped my 33" tires for 35" tires. Changes are afoot. When I load up the back for camping, I get a bit too close to level and close to reverse rake territory. I like some aggressive rake. I don't want to be level. Being level aesthetically won't help you when you load it down for some fun.

I want to lower the front about an inch. This will improve the ride up front, and still allow for some rake fully loaded. I might move up to 650 or 700# springs and run very little preload.

I daily drive mine with plenty of highway miles. I might have gotten used to it, but I don't find it that touchy. I don't suggest texting and driving or anything, but I don't suggest that for anyone. It's all a compromise. All these things we do to our rigs don't improve road handling. I just put 315/75/16 tires on. Because they are a lot wider than my 285s, they seem to find the grooves that we have on our highways here in Washington.

I am running with the G setting and can live with it, but I bet if someone else got behind my wheel after driving their Lexus or whatever, they'd think there was something off. Hahaha. Different worlds. A good alignment helps.

You may try one setting back from G, like F?? This might give you a margin of adjustment to make driving seem more predictable.

My suggestion is to find a GOOD alignment shop. Not Firestone or some other "get em in, get em out" place. We have a few here in the Seattle area. The kind that will ask you how much you weigh, how much do you usually carry and where do you carry the weight. Explain your interests and concerns to them. Show them the SPC instructions. Explain that you are trying to clear your tires, but don't want a twitchy drive. They should find a compromise. Then, make the vehicle fit around what you want it to do. Yes, that might mean grabbing folding over the pinch welds and massaging the contact areas till they don't contact, so be it.
