King Offroad shocks

My 4Runner came with Kings all the way around. They ride great but the front are not set for any lift.

I called King and asked about changing them to add a couple of inches of lift. The tech told me that their shocks were not designed for lift as much as offroad racing performance. I could add lift to them but that they were set from the factory specific for my 4Runner and changing the lift would change that.

I see a couple of options
I can go ahead and change the shocks so I have lift in the front
or
I can add spacers on top of the shocks to get the lift I need

What are your thoughts?

Please lord do not add spacers to King coilovers. King Coil's are top of the line. I would give them a crank up and call it a day.

Did king provide and thread max-min requirements? I ask as my Fox's came preset to 1.5-2", but after talking to the techs they gave me the max-min thread requirements based on my spring rates. I moved them up to 3" of lift and called it a day. All has been excellent.

At the end of the day as long as the shock isn't being overextended and is operating within the stroke range you should be fine. I had the same issue with my Ohlins on my Audi. I run them at max height as I don't need my wheels tucked.

I just looked on the King Suspension website and didn't see the 4Runner listed. Would you just order the 06-09 FJ kit?

I have the fj cruiser kit. You will have to lose the windshield reservoir if you get reservoir shocks . The shocks are set with 2.5in lift from the factory.

I believe this is what I am going to do. Adding Spacers was kind of a knee jerk thought. I am over it now.

King did stress not to over stress the springs by cranking it down to much. I don't think 2.5 inches will over do it.

The setup was on the 4Runner when I bought it. Partially why I bought it, so I don't know what was ordered, sorry.

I still have the windshield reservoir but this may explain why the top part leaks when I fill it. It must have been removed to do the install and the put back in.

Sounds like it is time for you to pull out the adjustment wrenches and start spinning those adjuster rings.

Anybody know what height lift King 2.5 coilovers are set at when they ship?

Just as a point of reference, is anybody know what king 2.5 coilovers come set up when they leave the factory? I am installing a lift today there's no mentioned on what they come set at for reference.
