Red LED Map lights & Custom 13" Bosch Rear wiper Install

So I installed new red LED map lights because I wanted to have a subtle glow in the cabin.



Installed a new rear wiper blade, Bosch 13" Advantage Blade. I had to use an Anco 48-08 adapter to install it. I had to sand down the sides of the adapter to allow it to fit into the blade and I also had to cut a metal rod out of the blade for the J clip. A lot of work but i think it was worth it.



this pic shows what i sanded. The same on both sides of the adapter


and here is a pic of how well it contours the rear window.

Painted the Brush Guard

Got the Brush guard sanded and painted up.
here is how i hung it to paint it lol


after a few coats of rustoleum high performance gloss black


here she is mounted up

Transmission Fluid Change & Transmission Cooler Install

Bought and installed a B&M 70264 Transmission cooler and bypassed the stock radiator transmission cooler. Also drained/refilled the transmission with new fluid and added a bottle of lucas transmission fix for good measure. That buck that it had from the 1-2 shift is gone now. Every shift is seamless and butter smooth.

Draining old fluid, still pretty red.

Painted My Skid Plates

So I had removed my skid plates to install the transmission cooler so I thought while they were off let me scuff em and give em a coat of paint. So I did just that.

Scuffed em with a red scuff pad


After painting


All painted up and reinstalled.
 
Amazon 24" LED Lightbar Install

Bought a 24" LED light bar from amazon for about $78 shipped which was a pretty good deal and it would fill up the empty brush guard nicely. The light bar is heavy and feels like it is made of quality material. The wiring is also a thick gauge. Here are some pics. This thing is damn bright lol.

Used a previous hole I drilled earlier to route the wires, got a PCV grommet to make it look a little cleaner and prevent any cutting.

For almost $80 you can't beat this deal. We'll see how it holds up to weather and being out in the sun but as of right now I am thoroughly satisfied with my purchase. When I did a test run in my neighborhood it was lighting up everything to the end of the street lol.

Timing Belt Replacement

So I went ahead and did the timing belt replacement on my 4runner since it had to be done around this mileage anyway with 117k on the odo. I did it myself for the most part but had a few extra helping hands for getting the new belt on. It was my first time attempting a timing belt change and it went really well I would say. I took lots of pictures and so I am going to try and write a really good DIY on it soon. I also felt like painting the timing cover and the radiator fan shroud since it'd be off. It came out alright, messed up the timing cover and had to redo it so its not all that great :/

So this is what all I replaced
-Timing Belt
-Water Pump
-Thermostat
-Idler Pulley
-Tensioner Pulley
-Tensioner
-Cam Seals
-Crank Seal
-Radiator
-Spark Plug Wires
-Power Steering Belt
-A/C Compressor Belt

I had the same issue when I bought my upper hose from Advance Auto. I simply cut an inch off the tip of the hose, engine side, and it fit perfectly.

Ahh ok. Yea I thought about that too but I also didn't like the way the autozone hose felt. Didn't feel as good quality as my oem hose and the old one wasn't cracked or hardened so it will be fine. Maybe eventually if i cough up 100$ I'll get the silicone radiator hoses, but no plans for that as of right now haha.

Updates

So I've been in school for about a month now and I haven't had too much time between work and school to do anything but I changed a few things up and I still need to fix some things...

I sold my Hella Supertones to my buddy with a 2013 Honda Accord. They look and sound right on his car. They just sounded pipsqueaky on the 4runner...
And I wanted some horns that sounded like they were from a large vehicle and were loud, so I bought the FIAMM EL Grande Horns. They had this chrome cover on the bottom and a red plastic cover on the back. I hated that so I took off those parts and it looks almost oem.


I also was sick of the blacked out tailight look, my friends said they couldn't even see my turn signals, not to mention I cant see anything when I back up at night. So I bought new replacement LED tail lights.

Bought some cheapo amber led light bar covers to produce an amber/yellow light for the rain. It helped a bit when I was driving on the dirt roads. But I cant wait till I get a 41.5" light bar for the windsheild :D





I also went driving with my friends on these backroads in College Station. Wasn't really much like prerunning lol but I was going like 60 on some of these dirt roads haha. After these experiences I have definitely realized that I need a suspension lift and new shocks...

So I bought a light bar for my winshield/roof off of amazon, 41.5" for $114. Not to shabby. Its freaking bright!!! I also bought mounts from Slag Factory which I believe Downpour is affiliated with and they are great. Here are the pics.






And here are some output pics, first is headlights only, 2nd is my front light bar and headlights, then the last one is everything.

Can you send me a link to the light bar that you got? Did it come with all the wiring and switches needed? Hows the glare on it?

Looks really good and have been considering getting one lately.

Here is the one I got. You gotta watch the prices because the lowest I've seen it is $113.99 and then the highest $140. So watch it and pull the trigger when its low lol. And no it didn't come with any wiring or switches, but I bought some generic wiring kit with a relay off ebay. As for a switch you can buy a 3 prong fog light switch for toyotas off ebay. And the glare isn't too bad I think, but my 4runner is pretty dirty and I have a dark color so it might not glare as much on mine as it would on a lighter color.
 
Projector Retrofit Update

So I started on my retrofit. I bought the "JDM" black headlight/corner light set to use for my retrofit because I wanted the black corners. I'm almost finished with the passenger side headlight. I'm doing one at a time so I can concentrate my efforts on one and so the other one will probably turn out better lol. I've mocked up the shroud, glass and corner light in the picture. The projector itself has already been JB Welded so it's not going anywhere lol. Here are some pics, sorry for bad quality :/
