knowing what size brakes came on it

I have a 02 sr5 with the 5 star wheel. 138k I have owned it since 03 and changed original pads at 120k. I am getting some uneven braking and want to replace the rotors and pads. when I went to look there were 2 sizes listed 199mm and 2** something. I did some looking on the sight and it mostly talks about up grade.
was there more than one size that came on when new?
do I have to look at the caliper to determine what I have?

I only drive about 4k a year now and most is in the winter months. I don't do much off road so I don't feel the need to up grade to tundra breaks.

All Toyota brake calipers have a core number stamped into the caliper, yours should be on side of the caliper which faces outwards, should be visible through the rim if you rotate the rim around a little. (Mine are on the front and back of the caliper, so you can see them just by crawling under the front end)

Since every rotor matches a specific caliper, that core number will be enough to get you the matching parts you need.

When I bought brakes I wanted to be doubly sure, so I looked up the core number, checked the specs on the rotors that came with it, and looked them up in my shop manual. You can also go on Rock Auto.com and browse for your brakes, most of them have specs for rotor size listed.

If your 4Runner was delivered with 16" wheels with 265/70-16 tires, you have the larger 16" wheel brakes. If your truck was delivered with 15" wheels and 225/75-15 tires, you have the 15" wheel brakes.

Don't trust the door sticker, they almost always say 15" wheels, even when the truck came from the factory with 16" wheels.

The 319mm / 12.5" front discs are the 16" wheel brakes.

Also, as a reference, the "Tundra" brake upgrade discs are the same diameter as the 16" wheel 4Runner brakes, but they are thicker. There are two caliper/pad options with the Tundra brakes, but they use the same discs.
