Ko2 275/70 vs stock 265/70

Here's a photo of the two to compare since I've seen several threads about members wanting to see the difference. Yes you will rub on your front mud flaps. Yes you will need to remove it like I did mine because it was pretty bad. I tried the old heat gun trick but that failed miserably. It could probably work if you take your time but just take it off. It's much easier and takes 5 minutes. I do get a little rub at full clock when backing up but can't figure out where it's rubbing

If anyone wants these ko2's. Discount tire will price match 4wheelparts price at $171 each and they bought my tires back at $50 each.

Nice, just ordered a set from DT. I'll be installing the Toytec BOSS lift on my TEP with KDSS and adding those shoes this weekend. I'll post some pics also ... wonder if the rub will be the same. I'm not adding spacers but going with an 8.5" wheel and 0 offset on those 275s.

O.K. so seriously... and no big deal if no one knows...

Dealer swapped my trail rims to PROs, and the day I picked it up, I went to 275 KO2s.

I was getting some rubbing on the front flaps, so I just recently removed. I did not get alignment after the new tires..

Why are some people with the PRO rims (on non-lifted Trails) having no problem with rubbing?

I can see that the TRD PROs are lifted, so they are not included in this discussion.
Also, the trail rims are different, so they are also not included in my question.

I have a camping trip this weekend, maybe I'll get alignment after that and see if it changes anything..

2014 TP, no lift, 275 KO2's. I do get a little rub under compression when I turn but not enough to bug me. I do have the bilstein 5100 ride height adjustable set with the rears coming but that's just to level it out. Haven't done an alignment, you don't need it just swapping tires. I will however get it aligned once I install the 5100's.

I checked again and the tire is hitting the body mount when at full lock and backing up. It's pretty bad when I back up on an incline. Almost to the point that this tire upgrade wasn't worth it and I have to make 3 to 4 point turns to back out of a parking space. This weekend I'll take it to the alignment shop again and have them set the casters all the way forward. I really don't want a body mount chop and trying to not have to buy uca's.

I rub too... what is it?? Hit or miss??? TEP pro rims.. 275/70.

Stock trail rims no rub. Based on what I am seeing it is not usually trail wheel vs trd wheel. Its usually trd wheel + something that makes them rub. I know the TRD wheel is narrower and maybe that has something to do with it.

Got this from another member on here before, can't verify it myself but he seemed confident in his answer

The stock Trail Edition wheel is:
Diameter: 17"
Width: 7.5"
Offset: +15mm
Backspacing: 4.84"

Stock TRD Pro wheel is:
Diameter: 17"
Width: 7"
Offset: +4mm
Backspacing: 4.16"

Did you have any balancing issues with the KO2 on those wheels?

I wonder if some of the rub comes from people having or not having KDSS. My passenger side with KDSS measures lower than the driver side..instead of the other way around...and that will cause the rub.

If you run bigger tires, different offset wheels or wheel spacers you can rub and the guy running the identical setup might not rub. Why? No two vehicles are alike. Seriously.

In your case it is a combination of the spacers and stock UCAs. See what the max caster alignment does, but removing the spacers should resolve it for sure. They add 32mm of negative offset to the wheels. If you are set on keeping the spacers you will probably need to either BMC or get some UCAs to dial in more +caster.

The main reason the wheels may or may not rub is due to the wheel offset. The Pro wheels will rub, while the TE/TEP wheels will not. the slightly higher positive offset creates a problem with the back of the wheels rubbing. The KDSS is not a problem. I installed the 275's on stock TEP wheels with no problems without a lift. I did later put a 2" lift on the front end to level the vehicle. Below are before and after pics of the lift.

Do you like your 2" leveling kit? Considering a 3" lift but curious if you're satisfied with just the leveling kit.
