just an update

for any of you wondering if these tires would effect MPG.
Two tanks of gas down, I would say NO

and still love the tires

I picked up a set of KO2's about 2k miles ago brand new for a steal of a price and I can honestly say these are by far the best tires I have ever owned. In high school I had the original KO's on my tacoma and would always have to take turns slow when it was wet out because they would break loose so easily but thats not the case with the KO2's. I actually feel comfortable to drive on the freeway in the rain with these tires.

Here is a picture of mine with the KO2's

Thanks for the mpg update 3bears. Guessing not much noise either? - they seem to have taken care of that in these 'modern' offroad tire designs compared to the 80's stuff.

I too kept my running boards for the same reasons + the gf is short so she needs the step to get in her side, haha.

What size tire did you go with? I'm thinking 265/75/16s.

Great Overall

Great overall. I've had several pairs of these. They wear well and long...as long as they are rotated (esp on independent front suspension), look good and good AT balance.

Only downside is not the best in the snow/ice in my experience AND (same as most other manufacturers) as you get up in sizes all you can get are heavy load ranges anymore.

I went with 265/75/16

tire shops will try to push you into 70 series, which are more money.

I'm having 265/70-17's installed on '16 4Runner Trail wheels as I type this... Let's hope they are as good as everyone says!

Wow are they more $$$, $1023 OTD for 70 series vs. $888 for 75 series (E load) at discount tire in austin. Guess I won't need the "hazard" coverage anymore? Never used it on any tire i buy it on, lol. Decisions....

I did the same size (C rated) and am thrilled with the purchase (on '16 TRD Pro wheels).
They are on the truck now. I'm impressed with how quiet they are so far... just 40 highway miles on them. Next weekend is a long drive and some unmaintained dirt roads. Once the 4wd swap is done, maybe actual off roading. :D

Exceptional tire

I've got the 34/10.50/17 load D; I've put about 8k, most of that cross country, miles on em with zero complaints. No noise, great grip on and offroad and wear has been minimal after two rotations. On wet pavement with no weight in the back I've had two situations where I peeled out. Most notably was the burnout I did from a stop light traveling uphill. With no load and a VVTi 2UZ up front you'll get that.

I'm just starting my research into new tires (first time replacing tires on the 4runner since purchase). Looks like I'll be getting KO2's.

If I move to the 165/75 size, will there be any issue with rubbing? I'm at stock height (2002 Limited).

For those of you that moved over from 165/70 to 165/75, did you also replace the spare?

Sorry if this has been covered, but I came across this thread looking for reviews of the KO2s (all positive) not really thinking I was going to change sizes.
